Hello to everyone who likes to experiment with crystallizing.
I start here a new topic, taking over from the previous called A GIFT FOR OMG.
The filter attached is derived from the one with the same name posted previously there.

Main changes are:

- simplified list of parameters:
the EMAPS are now identified by only the prefix part of the folder name
the full name is derived by the filter appending to that name the color group ID
this part is hardcoded, that is the folder name for red EMaps will always ends with RED
(other hardcoded suffixes are: GREEN BLUE CYAN MAGENTA YELLOW GRAY)
this will avoid problems with screens short on height (Pat)
- added some improvements to the final outcome (freaky details and boost)
- better identification of the correct color group to be used (Pat)

Installation:

a) for those who installed already CristallizeN, just unzip and replace it
b) for those who never installed CrystallizeN but installed Crystallize:
only unzip and install CrystallizeN (in one accessed user gimp plug-in folder)
c) for those who never installed either:
unzip, unpack and install all the seven EMaps folder in the user gimp folder
unzip and install the ancillary filter ModLCS (in one accessed user gimp plug-in folder)
unzip and install CrystallizeN (in one accessed user gimp plug-in folder)

Notes:

- the filter supports both Windows and Linux
(the slash necessary to compose the full path is defined accordingly to the platform)
- no other platforms are supported (I asked previously, but no one entered a request)
- if you have known problems of PC performances use small image dimensions and few colors
- the filter creates a new image, source is untouched (as in previous CrystallizeN)

the names suffixes specify:
- the number of colours used (12, 16)
- the image dimension (W+H=3300)
- the mode applied to the top layer (screen, as per default, or overlay)

I think you may use only this last one.
Thanks for testing, Lyle

Both show up; your original (Crystallize without the n) that is. Still, I'll remove the old one. :)

Yes, Lyle, names are different. You may remove the old one (without N)

Thanks Issabella; like yours too. Nice to have access to the layers for additional manipulation is all I have to say. :)

dinasset you may want to look into Bytes & Pixels hack on the gimp-fu.py file. :) I use it now in all my new downloaded versions and it works well to help with that nasty "No Space" for the input value lists in a Python dialog. You can check it out the dialog results here.
Image

Some changes i also had to make to the PF stuff -
      (PF_TEXT, "emapfolder_R", "Red:", "EMapsGemRED"),
      (PF_TEXT, "emapfolder_G", "Green:", "EMapsGemGREEN"),
      (PF_TEXT, "emapfolder_B", "Blue:", "EMapsGemBLUE"),
      (PF_TEXT, "emapfolder_C", "Cyan:", "EMapsGemCYAN"),
      (PF_TEXT, "emapfolder_M", "Magenta:", "EMapsGemMAGENTA"),
      (PF_TEXT, "emapfolder_Y", "Yellow:", "EMapsGemYELLOW"),
      (PF_TEXT, "emapfolder_W", "White:", "EMapsGemGRAY"),

Results of your dialog with the new PF changes and the hacked gimp-fu.py
Image

Is there a way to make the folder directory windows shorter? They seem awful tall anyways.

New gimp-fu.py is attached. To use just remove and RENAME your old gimp-fu.py file to OLD-gimp-fu.py and place in a safe place in case you need to revert back to it. You can then just rename it back to gimp-fu.py and you will be all set.

This new one needs to be in the actual PROGRAM directory of your GIMP install in the main python folder located here.
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\32\lib\gimp\2.0\python

thanks Rod.
In the new filter I shortened the parameters list, as you can read in the initial post.
Anyhow, your info is very useful.

I agree with you. Maybe Ofnuts (python guru) knows the answer....

Thanks Dinasset, It works and the dialog is now much more compact - no more ALT-Dragging required. The only thing I noticed is it resizes the work. My sig went from 500x150px to 3230x969px.From this....Image to this....Image In fact I couldn't upload the bigger file without resizing as it went over the 5.2meg limit.

Kimba, the rescaling is dependant from the input parameter; default is w+h=4200 but you may set it to let's say 1200

Very nice, OMG. Your colors are much better than mine. I have trouble keeping the specific colors where they should be. Need more practice.
