I replied too late, so I have to wait the "time lag".
In the meantime I found an "equivalent" image by googling (from pickywallpapers), run CrystallizeN with defaults then replaced Top Layer mode to Hardlight

Dinasset: This is the photo I started with. I think I over processed the pic trying to get the result I wanted after I ran CrystallizeN.

this is one possible outcome (if I understand correctly what you are looking for):

if you like this one, I made the following "variations":
1-before running the filter I diminished the brightness by 50
2-run the filter with no stretch
3-duplicated the top layer and set it to Multiply 100

another possible outcome, setting the (duplicated) top layer to Burn 100

same "variations" as before except that the last step was to set the duplicated Top layer to Burn 100

Thank you Dinasset. Contrast is much better and tulips better defined than mine. I was trying to get that crystallized look without adding much additional colors to the tulips.

Dinasset: I'm having trouble with CrystallizeN. Have not used it in awhile but now I keep getting an error right away and it will not run? Is it affected by the latest G'MIC? I include a screenshot of the error. Using Windows 10, 64 bit, GIMP 2.8.18. I tried erasing it and reloaded it twice but not helpful.

Pat, some of the nice filters of Dinasset have error since the last release of GMIC. So our friend Dinasset did an adaptation of some of his filters without using GMIC. Not all have been adapted as it's a very hard difficult work using only Gimp. :)

The problem is the usual G'MIC incompatibility among releases.
Here the amended version.
