Rod just posted this new filter written by me (thanks, Rod !), you may download it from the "Latest GIMP Scripts & Plug-ins" above.
It was inspired by Lyle's experiments on G'MIC Shapeism filter, which constitutes the most relevant step of my filter.
As you probably noticed on previous debates with Lyle, this G'MIC filter is very slow (very interesting, but really very slow).
Thus I give you some hints if you like to test/use this new filter of mines.
The default set-up operates (creates) a new image with a dimension of width+height = 2000.
It's not the best size (optimum IMO is 2500), but after many tests I reduced the default to 2000 to cause less wait time.
I specify here for reference the execution time of my filter in 3 different image sizes:
2000 > 3'30''
1500 > 1'45"
1000 > 0'45"
Hence I suggest you do the first test with the minimum dimension (1000); if you get the outcome in a reasonable time, you may later try bigger dimensions.
Also the overlap option has some influence; those elapsed times on my PC are based on the default value of 3 for overlap, using a value of 1 times are shorter:
2000 > 2'45"
1500 > 1'20"
1000 > 0'35"

Please make your tests and tell your opinion.
I called it Funny Mosaic because it really creates a sort of mosaic.

It has been extensively tested by my friend Issabella (thanks !).
She very likely will post here soon some of her results.

Enjoy

PS: it goes under Menu DIEGO/DEFORMATION

Edit: on post # 70 there is a version 2 attached for non Windows users

Edit2: on post # 77 there is a version suffixed Mac attached for Mac users

Got an error while running it Diego (after over 10 minutes; ran under the defaults). Oh well. Maybe my system (only two years old) isn't powerful enough (12Gs of RAM too). Like the results you got from the attached zip though. :)

I have only 8 GB of Ram
How much does it take to run ONLY directly the G'MIC Filter on an image of -say- 1200x800?

the Shapeism execution takes about 5/6 of the time for my filter...all the rest just 1/6

Lyle, try to run it with: image size=1000 and overlap=1

Depends on the image but it can take a long time. I never really watch the time (even when running the python, it was an estimate), but it did crash. Not sure why; didn't want to try again. lol

May later though and give a capture of the error for you but again, not really in the mood. Still, like the results that were in your zipped file. :)

Lyle, the input image size DOESN'T MATTER in my filter, in any case I take the input image and create an image on the base of the indicated size (default=2000, alias 1000x1000 if square, or 1200*800 or anything else with w+h=2000 respecting the input image ratio)
Please, run it as I said (minimum values), and check whether you have:
-my modLCS filter
-the cartoonizer.exe filter
both are used (as written in the filter description)

i post here my version of Cartoonizer.exe
I did it recompile (some time ago) only to change the Menu location; thus, if you install my version you'll find it under: Addons/AddEXE/Artistic

the other prereq is my std ancillary app modLCS.py posted when released my previous filters

OK; did what you suggested (1000) and it still crashed (though only a minute or two this time before the error). :)

it seems to be the BRL filter: may you try with an EMap selected?

It's monochrome but it's an RGB (not grayscale) image, Diego. I'll play with other setting to see if that works. :)

OK; that was it. I didn't pick any map at all and it was what caused the error. My bad (never read the fine print; lol). :)

Thank You Diego.

For me it works well - but the lack of information that Bevel-Reflect-Logo.scm is also necessary.

you're right, MareroQ.
It's already so much used among the Gimp-chatters that I forgot always to mention it!

how about response time in your PC, Mareroq? and Lyle?
I guess they can be useful info for the other Gimp-chatters

Haven't tried 2000 yet; I suspect it will be around 10 minutes since instead of an error, I got a result in 1 to 2 minutes for the 1000. That's acceptable for me, but again, I'm use to waiting (maybe one day I'll get a truely high horsepower monster that can run G'MIC 100 times faster. lol). :)
