Is there a Text to Selection script?

Has anyone tried the Selection to Path Advanced Settings with the Selection Editor ( Select → Selection Editor ) or Paths dialog?

I for one have never use it and would love to see a good comprehensive tutorial about it.

Any info on Selection to Path Advanced Settings I've seen so far is in that Gimp Help section.

I just checked Gimp Bible by Jason van Gumster, there is 'Selection to Path Advanced Settings' info in Chapter 5: Taking Advantage of Paths.

Same here and the Gimp Help Section doesn't really go into much detail.
There are more than few variables with this tool.
That I haven't the slightest idea of how, or when to employ.
I guess one could use this to refine or repair a selection,
but I wouldn't know where to start,
or which variable to apply and why I might apply them.

Two (Selection and Path Advanced Settings) in one script-fu Saul Good (with slight modifications).

On the menu: Filters -> Text -> Alpha to selection and path...

The same path distortions are also present when using this script to generate paths form the alpha channel of text.

The blue paths were made using the sg-alpha-to-select-and-path.scm.
The red paths were made using text to selection.
