Glad that it worked for you too, Tom. Again, you may get weird error messages for some of these presets, but you will get a working result none the less. :)

I can't install the Nik collection in CS2 under Wine as CS2 doesn't see them ,or run them as standalones as when I try that Wine crashes.

Is this free? I ask because google better not go suing people for using this collection once it's downloaded and installed.

I'm getting a missing MSVCP110.dll error which is a big problem according to reports on the net.

I've installed ShellOut.py in the Gimp plugins folder and then edited the file with Notepad++ and inserted the 7 Google Nik filters. When I edit a new image in Gimp 2.8.22 I can see ShellOut and the filters. If I use one of the GNik filters I get : 'python_fu_ShellOut (Not Responding) message. Even when I use ShellOut without inserting the GNik filters I still get this error message.

Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong? Many thanks. J

IF you have windows 64 bit....
Use this (copy paste into Shellout)...
  ["DFine 2", "\"C:\\Program Files\\Nik Collection\\Dfine 2\\Dfine 2 (64-Bit)\\Dfine2.exe\"", "png"],
  ["Sharpener Pro 3 pre-sharpener", "\"C:\\Program Files\\Nik Collection\\Sharpener Pro 3\\Sharpener Pro 3 (64-Bit)\\SHP3RPS.exe\"", "png"],
  ["Sharpener Pro 3", "\"C:\\Program Files\\Nik Collection\\Sharpener Pro 3\\Sharpener Pro 3 (64-Bit)\\SHP3OS.exe\"", "png"],
  ["Viveza 2", "\"C:\\Program Files\\Nik Collection\\Viveza 2\\Viveza 2 (64-Bit)\\Viveza 2.exe\"", "png"],
  ["Color Efex Pro 4", "\"C:\\Program Files\\Nik Collection\\Color Efex Pro 4\\Color Efex Pro 4 (64-Bit)\\Color Efex Pro 4.exe\"", "jpg"],
  ["Analog Efex Pro 2", "\"C:\\Program Files\\Nik Collection\\Analog Efex Pro 2\\Analog Efex Pro 2 (64-Bit)\\Analog Efex Pro 2.exe\"", "jpg"],
  ["HDR Efex Pro 2", "\"C:\\Program Files\\Nik Collection\\HDR Efex Pro 2\\HDR Efex Pro 2 (64-Bit)\\HDR Efex Pro 2.exe\"", "jpg"],
  ["Silver Efex Pro 2", "\"C:\\Program Files\\Nik Collection\\Silver Efex Pro 2\\Silver Efex Pro 2 (64-Bit)\\Silver Efex Pro 2.exe\"", "jpg"],

Change jpg to tif if you need alpha.

I don't think 'all' of the filters will work with gimp. I see quite a list but they don't all work. They don't for me any how. (I use windows)
I have 9 that work - open and save back into gimp or save onto desktop.
6 do not work 5 do not even open but HDR opens and doesn't save I cannot see where I can save it normally either. 9 out of 14 is pretty good.

Rod. Thanks for this. I shall try it and let you know how it goes.

Cheers

James

PS Just tried it and similar problem. Also, tried again the basic unedited ShellOut.py. Even that gives me the same issue - 'python_fu_shellout (not responding0'.

Have you made sure those code lines refer to your NIK location? Because normally it will install into

C:\\Program Files\\Google\\Nik Collection\\

I custom installed mine.

In answer to your last reply 11th Sept (thanks), the answer is yes - I think. Does the image show what you expect?

PS Sorry for late reply I've been away from my computer!
