Really a neat font, Wallace. You and Tran came up with a great script. I'm amazed.

Thanks Pat625. :bigthup
There's more to come.

If you have any ideas for a custom font,
let us know and we'll try and create it.
Or better yet,
contribute to our collection of custom fonts,
by creating a custom font of your own design.

Only additional information (at the design stage):

For recording layers as png, you can use:
Export layers:

https://github.com/khalim19/gimp-plugin-export-layers

But first you have to get rid of special characters (and ensure the return of the characters after the opening of the files as layers).

Based on the idea by Paynekj:

http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=985#p10807

simple plugin automatic rename for pre-export (chars -> name) and post opening (name -> chars)
and also remove unnecessary characters (1) - because, for example:
Layer A = a.png
Layer a = a (1) .png
In the menu Gimp (toolbox) Layers -> Renaming Layers

when a path is defined for a letter, it uses canvas's width to calculate offset... this goes out of wack when canvas is larger than layers or if layers themselves are offset differently.
So i fixed this and make it move offsets based on layer's width and path's relative position to layer's offset rather than path's absolute position.

This is version 9 of script

It wasn't that much work.
Some of the paths are the same,
but I still had to check every letter after setting each path.
To be sure it was correct.
It was a real time consuming process,
which needed to be done.

The custom font's I've made do look better in full scale.

:lol i don't know how many times i downloaded this script PLEASE allow users to download the final script in the first post. If you did this already ignore my ranting. This is a phenomenal work Tran! I will keep my bitfonter software in case anyone wants to still use fontlabs adobe plug-in (photofont start). But looks like there really is no need for it now. :)
So now all you need to do is grab an image of letters, extract them from the image with G'MIC ... and run your script Tran. NICE!

I can't remember are the instructions for creating the xcf on the first post? Does each layer have to be a certain name? a.png, b.png ect...

Anyways nicely done.

I'd help out,
if I knew what xcf file it is that you're looking for?
