4-change the filter for names, put in "pa"

the filter informs you with a message about how many patterns it did find which haved the substring "pa" in the name

This just to start.
You may play with different substrings, different number of areas (instead of 11 = defaults), etc..
Once used to run it, you may create your own sets of patterns, and later work with gradients (change type of fillers)

Dinasset: Thank you very much for your instructions. I see that the platform was for Windows 10, 64 bit. I have Windows 7, 32 bit but it seems to work since I follow your instructions. I initially had a lot of errors from the start, now I don't. I also was trying to select an area from an image instead of running the filter on the full image. This first one does not have many colors but I have not set up very many substrings yet. Still away from home helping a relative.

Dalia and Issabella: Thank you very much for your comments. I tried a few other images but could not get it to work so I still have some learning to do. I'm not sure if it has to do with the platform of the script being 64 bit. My computer is 32 bit.
Both of you have created very nice images.

Pat625 - some terrific results there; hopefully they are worth the 'troubles' you are also suffering :clap ;)

This script gives some interesting results if you mix the media (i.e glass and wood) in your pattern set which is called from the script ...

Interesting OMG, How did you mix glass and patterns? :)
I repeated my posted image in wood trying the sky was more relevant and not in plain white. :)

Issabella, this one is a mix of chocolate and mother of pearl gradients.
I made a new folder and picked the ones I wanted to use and renamed them as dinasset instructs here.
It was easy and pretty fast once I got going.
dinasset wrote:
I guess it's useful to post also here what I posted on the thread related to the special edition for Mac Users.
Important if you want to use Gradients in the filter and want to create your own set by duplicating/renaming existing gradients.

Example for renaming a gradient.
Assume I have a gradient called "Jeans.ggr".
Its internal decriptive name is also "Jeans" (you may see it by editing the file Jeans.ggr with for instance Notepad++.
Look:

GIMP Gradient
Name: Jeans
3
0.000000 0.140575 0.313099 0.419608 0.439216 0.521569 1.000000 0.443137 0.458824 0.545098 1.000000 0 0 0 0
0.313099 0.577210 0.739084 0.443137 0.458824 0.545098 1.000000 0.592157 0.607843 0.674510 1.000000 0 0 0 0
0.739084 0.938232 1.000000 0.592157 0.607843 0.674510 1.000000 0.760784 0.768627 0.823529 1.000000 0 0 0 0

Assume I want to change its name to something different because there is only one of my gradients called that way but four similar called "...Denim...".
Hence I want to have it in that set.
I decided to call it "my Denim for Jeans" hoping that having Denim included in its external name would suffice.
Wrong: the gradient still appears in the gradients panel as simply "Jeans" and it's not selected among the other "...Denim..." if I enter the word "Denim" as the searching text in the filter.
I had to edit it with Notepad++ and change the second line of the text from "Name: Jeans" to "Name: my Denim for Jeans".
Look:

GIMP Gradient
Name: my Denim for Jeans
3
0.000000 0.140575 0.313099 0.419608 0.439216 0.521569 1.000000 0.443137 0.458824 0.545098 1.000000 0 0 0 0
0.313099 0.577210 0.739084 0.443137 0.458824 0.545098 1.000000 0.592157 0.607843 0.674510 1.000000 0 0 0 0
0.739084 0.938232 1.000000 0.592157 0.607843 0.674510 1.000000 0.760784 0.768627 0.823529 1.000000 0 0 0 0

Restarting/Refreshing now it appears with the new name and it's taken into account when I enter "Denim" as searching text for Gradients in my filter. The info message of the filter says now that it used 5 gradients for choosing among.

Hope I've been enough clear.

Issabella, Dalia, OMG: Thank you for your nice comments. I am slowly trying to set up substrings.

Issabella, OMG: I really like your outcomes. It looks like you have a lot of different colors in yours, Issabella.

Pat625 - thank you.

Issabella - thank yoiu too. As for my comment about glass and wood - you know I have many glass patterns, quite a few of which derive from that lovely gold glass pattern that Pat posted. So all I did was put some light coloured glass patterns into a 'named set' with some darker wood pattterns and then just let Dinasset's magic script do the rest. :(

SeriousTom that is an excellent outcome. Will have to try to sort my dark and light patterns and re-classify/rename.

No gradients in this one. Took a small photo of burning hot charcoal on a grill and made .pat file at 6000x6000. That shows in the areas of yellow/orange/red/bluegray and also the red/bluegray. Also took a mother of pearl gradient and made a 6000x6000 .pat file. Also Graphic boost. The very large .pat files will fill a smaller picture almost
like a background. Most the patterns I have are not tileable so I size them to fit.
used Graphic Boost.

As I warned another thread, we just spent 2 weeks with young grandsons. Their influence may show up in my works!
