Animicule: I agree with Dalia. Your "mini tuts" are very helpful. Will save them also. Your work is amazing.

Thank you all for your encouragement!
For this one today,
transparent pattern only
played with the layers and modes.
added light
It is becoming a faster operation then it used to be.

You're getting some textures and colors in there now RKJD!
Here is another from the light tower. There in an artifact in the reflection
of the water. May have accidently had 2 active patterns, not certain.

This one is rather personal on a couple of different levels...
When I started using gimp in March 2016 my project was to
restore and preserve family photo slides from 1952 up into the 70's.
I had been using iomega image expert (over 10 years old came with a zip drive)
and windows paint and needed something better.
Here is the birthday boy back in 1954.

Very nice Issabella!
The leaves on the tree are my favorite.

Animicule: Very clear and concise on your "other side". You got the water so nice and realistic. I have not been able to do that yet. Also, very concise with "the potty". Every thing is so well delineated. You can easily tell what everything is and its placement. I have had some bad outcomes and not posted them. I must not be getting images that can be used for this filter, or just haven't mastered the art!

Issabella: Yours are beautiful as always. I especially like Lucca. I have had many pets since childhood and loved them all. I might search for a few pictures of them.

Thank you Pat and Issabella for your encouragement.
Selection of subject photo is more important that I thought. Have been
trying space nebulae and thought I could get a good result, but not so far.
Also, the light leak filter highlights a certain area. I did not notice this at
first but on the 1st lighthouse it fit very well - almost made for the breaking wave.
On some others not so well. Also on the old slides that were restored with gimp,
they were so old that even though you can see them now, there isn't much for
the plugin to work on, so many them do not work very well at all, though I keep
trying.

I like ocean photos, but again not all of them work.
This and the one above.
Created pattern from the subject, being mindful of the size.
Ran the filter with the same size as the pattern.
I think I learned this from Dahlia's cabin, the detail was so nice
that when done playing with the layers and modes I copy the
subject and paste it on the top layer of the "new" stack created
by Dinasset's filter. I play with modes but may use normal mode
and 30% to 40% opacity. It seems to bring out clarity as on the boat.

Here is an attempt at wooden corn.
I believe it was 20 or 40 colors.
