Excellent works Pat and Hardy!
Here is my entry for this morning, a watch movement.
It is very large, so to see the texture it must be zoomed in.

Beautiful images Hardy and Animicule. What texture did you use for the watch?
Hardy, what was your texture for your images. I'm still looking for different things to use as textures.

Dinasset: No competition, we are all just having fun, and learning!

you mean the part about me being weird?
:hehe
I call that pattern a neutral pattern. I was going to bring it, and couldn't find
it this morning.

Thank you Pat, for the snail shell I used a photo shop plugin called sharplet about 3x (this takes the shiny 'glare') out of the subject and I believe allows for a tighter pattern in texturize. Here is the 'neutral pattern' I have been using for you to try. Please test it, and change the contrast/brightness and/or the opacity a few times to see what you can come up with!

Those are really nice, Animicule. I will try out your pattern soon. When you use 3 sets of patterns on one image, how do you do that? Make selections, or run the filter 3 different times?

in my patterns folder were 3 folders, ripply, grassy and wood, each folder has patterns
of that type in them. For pattern selection I just choose letter e or letter a and it will find about 1,100 color patterns and select from them. most of the patterns have color name in the description
area that shows when selecting from a list in gimp. just choose something at random and
see how many TexturizeByAreaByColorArea finds with the best choma & best color selection
and it works pretty well. Sometimes the color patterns darken the image or make the
white look pink or yellow so after the run and layer play is over, save as new image and maybe use the auto adjust white balance to see if it makes a difference, or curves. Other times i'll use a different search or just put more patterns in the folders and try again.
It's part of the fun, sometimes a winner, other times a deletion.

It looks like ripply won on the vase...

On this one, the grassy texture shows on the back window curtains. Ripply has a great share and
woody is easy to see.

This one had 2 sets of patterns H(horizontal)wood and V(vertical)wood.
Although they were made from the same pattern, Hwood won the best luma&color selection
by a landslide.
