(but IMO use of "pointillism" is for letting color emerge, more than details)

I must agree with you. I played around with it a little bit. I think it is not the best image for pointillism.

this looks fun! i'm a fan of seurat (pointillist number one), so i think i could have a good time with this filter. nice results from you all, i'm especially impressed with pat - you really seem to have learned to use this filter to best advantage in a very short time.
