At what stage are you at

Open a blank image and fill with white
Using the path tool make a few random clicks around the image
Stroke the path to get something like this

Then run the script

This is the basics, sorry if your already at this point

Hi hardy111
.

You need to create a path from text or from a shape.
Once you have some kind of path,
run the script.

Great script! Worked first time for me.

Going to have fun with this script :)

Win 7 / 64bit Gimp 2.8.18 & very old Dell desktop highly modified (Optiplex 740)

Maybe I'll dream up a signature for me now :)

I'm using an Optiplex 745 Mini Tower and it's also highly modified as well.
This model and the 740,
is soon to be about 10 years old.

and so of course, a script that utilizes background after ColorToAlpha-ing for you and merges with background for you. so that you can quickly create more lightning animations. It'll use your selected active layer as background and remove it for you after it's done so that you're left with animation frames ready to export to gif.

script will available under Script-Fu/Lightning like Zeus with background...Like the first script in the 1st post it also needs the .py plug (from the first post).

Oh dear - my wife wants to know who to blame for all of this ... so now I have had to promise her a 3 day 'bush holiday' next week

Meanwhile ...

Thank you for posting this. I don't know why that isn't in the menu of every filter that lets you adjust the hue.

Tran instead of guessing a hue color why not just allow the user to select a stroke fg fill color?

I just followed the tutorial and it said colorize.
I am not sure how to change it to stroke fill color since it only uses the stroke fill to select and not show, if you let me know how i can do it i 'll change it, it uses results from render->clouds->difference clouds.

It could also be done with a gradient map.

'Colorify' is a default Gimp plugin
try using '(plug-in-colorify RUN-NONINTERACTIVE image drawable color)
As is GradMap
(gimp-context-set-gradient 'gradient')
(plug-in-gradmap RUN-NONINTERACTIVE image drawable)
