Just published.
http://gimpscripts.com/2016/10/pseudo-hdr-effect/

To be used when an image is too dark (but not black, dark values in it should still have some color values even if low)

Issabella, I couldn't resist having a go at re-working your tomb picture, although I didn't use the filter as I felt I could do better making the adjustment manually:

Mostly done using Photivo then perspective correction in GIMP.

I ran from default settings and it returned this error
GIMP Error
Calling error for procedure 'gimp-procedural-db-proc-info':
Procedure 'python-fu-WhiteBalanceStretch' not found

I got that too... there's a whitebalacestretch on gimp scripts... you'll have to close Gimp and reopen it.

:D

Like me you missed the requirement for 2 dependencies

This new filter gives a real emphasis to colours.

However, I felt that for Issabellas photographs - the tomb and the cathedral(?), fairly monochrome - it was possible to get better results by other means.
So, my attempts and the one of the cathedral also with perspective correction.
(Hopefully, noise is less apparent.)

david.

BTW, you can get also a better outcome playing with PseudoHDREffect parameters:
no WhiteBalance, no Saturation, yes Denoise

w/o any further intervention

afterwards, if the "noise" is not well accepted, there are many denoising possibilities in G'MIC

thanks Issabella, Pat and Meemaw for your tries.
It's a filter which gives somehow "unpredictable" results, sometimes you have to play a bit with the parameters.

edit: the station looks very nice
