OK Bob, I copy and pasted the line into line 53 and now my Gimp cannot see it at all. Have closed the gimp and restarted my computer as well. Maybe I am not meant to have it ;)

Hi Sallyanne,
If it helps, attached is a screen print of the shellout.py file I am using. It works for me with XnView and Nik Collection. As Rod indicates it depends on your file system and where your XnView and Nik Collection programs are located. I am using Windows 10 64-bit so, like Rod, 64 bit programs are located in C:\Program Files while 32 bit programs are located in C:\Program Files (x86). If your programs are in C:\Program Files then your ShellOut.py file needs to reflect that location. For example on line 53 of the attached image you would need to change the line to ["XNView", "\"C:\\Program Files\\XnView\\xnview.exe\"", "png"], as suggested by Rod.

Hope this helps.

Bob

Hi Sallyanne,

Attached is a copy of a ShellOut.py file. Perhaps you could make a backup of your ShellOut.py file and copy the attached file into your GIMP plugins folder and see if it works. The attached file assumes your XnView program is located in C:\Program Files\XnView\ and your Nik collection is located in C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection\. Hopefully these match where your programs are.

Cheers,

Bob

Also, you have to understand that the shellout script come with preset links for programs that you may or may not actually have installed. :)

This is an excellent point.
Try re downloading Shellout and put a brand new one in the plug-ins folder. Open it in Notepad ++ as it see's and saves python files correctly. Look at the program lines and see if the paths match your Xnview locale. Example
  programlist = [
  ["XNView", "\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\XnView\\xnview.exe\"", "png"],

Do this by opening any folder and then browsing to the "Program Files" folder in C directory.
Question.
Is your Xnview the portable version? If so it wouldn't be in the "C:\Program Files" folder unless you moved or unzipped it to that location.
Another question.
Did you create a folder named PF by any chance? Your Shellout program line suggests its located in the PF folder in your C directory "C:\PF"

Rob would not have put that in there as default location. So it must have been edited.

@Lyle I was wondering if I had the programs at all and that is why I couldn't find XNView in the program list.
Is there something else I need to download as well as the Nik collection for the shellout (I have no software)
@ Rod, I was also wondering about that PF. I hadn't changed anything at all and it says that Rob wrote it? I reinstalled the shellout and haven't add the code for the nik collection yet. I was hoping to get it working first - If I need other software I may be stuck.

Sallyanne,

Perhaps you need to install/reinstall XnView and Nik Collection. They are available for download at these locations

https://www.google.com/nikcollection/
http://www.xnview.com/en/xnview/#downloads

Once these are installed and depending on where they are installed on your PC the shellout version I attached to post #22 should work. In my version I changed the "PF" referred to by Rod to "Program Files". As Rod and Lyle indicated there are references to programs in the shellout file which won't work unless these programs are installed on your PC in the default locations shown in that file.

Cheers,

Bob
