I start this new topic to release "special" editions of my filters.
Special means without the use of G'MIC functions, only using Gimp.
I did this already in the past for a few of my filters, to allow Mac users to use them.
Some Mac users have difficulties with filters embedding G'MIC functions, especially if new.

I plan to use this single topic for all -SE filters, not to multiply the number of topics.
-----------------
FIRST FILTER
-----------------
My first release here today is a new version of "TexturizeByAreaByColour".
The initial "regular" release was already published also in an -SE edition.
Afterwards I released an enhanced regular edition.
This -SE edition includes all the enhancements available in the regular edition.
Also the many Post-process effects have been rewritten using Gimp only.
For some of these PP effects, there is a need of additional resources:
- 2 Gimpressionist presets
- 1 Pattern
They are included here together with the filter.
If some Mac users install it, please let me know whether they can run it, thanks.

The filter:
Attachment:
DIEGO_QUANTIZE_TexturizeByAreaByColourSE.zip [10.33 KiB]
Downloaded 377 times

The Gimpressionist additional presets:
Attachment:
new GI presets.zip [1.24 KiB]
Downloaded 396 times

The pattern:
Attachment:
Leather-05.jpg
Leather-05.jpg [ 12 KiB | Viewed 6811 times ]

Put the filter (unzipped) into your user plug-ins folder (it's in python)
Put the GI presets (unzipped) in your user Gimpressionis/Presets folder (create one if none)
Put the pattern in your user patterns folder

Enjoy (hopefully)

SECOND FILTER
-------------------------
My second filter of these special editions is a new implementation of a Wireframed Image.
You likely know already my 2 standard versions available (released), one which refers to Lyle's technique and the other one which makes use of a Garagecoder's G'mic filter.
This one is based on pure Gimp, no G'mic filters used.
No special resources are needed.
Here the filter

Examples under Gimp Art topic, thanks.

Edit:
You may create four different types of outcomes: on black, on transparent, on original colored source, on desaturated source (look at the examples shown under Gimp Art).
You may also create your own preferred look by:
- create the outcome on black, but choose flatten=False
- replace (fill) the black layer with any colour or pattern you like
Enjoy

THIRD FILTER
-------------------------
My third filter of these special editions is a new implementation of a Sketched Image inspired by Jamac's tutorial.
It has been already released on Gimpchat, see viewtopic.php?f=9&t=14740
This one is a more complete version, still without the help of G'MIC filters, thus usable by Mac users.
It can create up to four different images (they were 3, previously), and also with a choice between a "raw" aspect or a "smoothed" aspect.
Here the filter

It requires a paper pattern, here it is:

Hope you enjoy it.

FOURTH FILTER
-------------------------
My fourth filter of these special editions is a new implementation of a Crazy Hedcut Image inspired by Lyle's tutorial.
This "recreation" took quite a while, because the standard edition release is full of calls to G'mic functions.
This SE edition -as the others published here- is GIMP-ONLY.
It makes use of some Gimp resources, required to run it:
- script-fu RobA Mosaic Tile Helper (you need to download/install in case you don't have it)
http://www.silent9.com/incoming/scripts ... helper.scm
- pattern "Paper_Iridescent Brush taster.jpg" attached below
- 3 new Gimpressionisr Presets: PenDrawing, PenDrawingSlim45, PenDrawingSlim135 attached below.
This edition adds a new feature, not available in the standard edition:
the possibility to obtain all 4 possible different outcomes at once.
Here the filter:
Attachment:
DIEGO_ARTISTIC_CrazyHedcutSE.zip [6.92 KiB]
Downloaded 289 times

Here the pattern:
Attachment:
Paper_Iridescent Brush taster.jpg

Here the Gimpressionist Presets:
Attachment:
GI Presets.zip [1.75 KiB]
Downloaded 318 times

unzip and add to your folder Gimpressionist/Presets under (your-user)/.gimp-2.8

Hope you enjoy

FIFTH FILTER
-------------------------
My fifth filter of these SPECIAL EDITIONS is a new implementation of my preferred filter: Paint on Paper.
The suppression of G'mic links has been easy in this case, just one call, replaced by a built-in ancillary routine (SimpleCutout).
The 3 outcomes available in the standard edition are very similar (someone says even better).
A 4th outcome has been added: Japanese style.
Also, the user can now obtain all the styles in one shot.
Here the filter:
Attachment:
DIEGO_QUANTIZE_PaintingOnPaperSE.zip [7.66 KiB]
Downloaded 537 times

The gimp resources needed are the same as for the standard edition, anyhow I copy them here:
Gimpressionist Presets:

GI-Presets.zip [1.77 KiB]
Downloaded 520 times

Patterns:

SIXTH FILTER
-------------------------
My sixth filter of these SPECIAL EDITIONS is a new implementation of my Glass Frame Effects.
The original version (available in the Repository of Gimp Scripts & Plug-ins) was wriiten in scheme and has many calls to G'mic.
Some users have problems with compatibility with different OS and G'mic configurations.
Thus I decided to write a new version of it:
- in python
- without any call to G'mic
The nice G'mic functions used in the previous edition have been replaced by Gimp functions, trying to provide at least "vaguely" similar rersults.
It has been added a new frame choice at the end of the list, you may try (thanks to OMG hard work on glass...).

These are the prerequisites:

- filter "python_layerfx_bevel_emboss" (available under GIMP Scripts & Plug-ins)

- gimpressionist presets (attached below):

Dinasset: I installed your SE of Texture by area by color. I have tried to use it with many different images, and settings but I keep getting an error. I deleted the old version thinking it was conflicting and re booted the program but that did not help. Also re downloaded and installed the pattern and presets without any change. Can you tell me how to correct it.

Pat,
look at your patterns folder, very likely you have a pattern with an empty name ("") which can't be set as a context pattern

you may try the filter by setting a discriminant in the name, do not leave it blank, otherwise it loads ALL the patterns including the one with the wrong name

Pat,
to double-check my guess I did the following:
1-opened a pattern as image
2-changed dimensions
3-called for export (as a .pat)
4-entered a new name
5-when gimp proposed the internal name (description), cleared the field
6-saved

7-Run my filter with default values (Filter for fillers name = "None")
8-Got exactly your same error !

Hence, remove the pattern you have without an internal name (description).
You discover it by seeing in the patterns list a pattern with only the dimensions (no name)

Dinasset - its late here now and I am tired but thought I would have a quick play with Crazy Hedcut SE. Received this error message and while I have the gold pattern you mentioned in post 10 above I cannot find a 'MyGold_120.jpg' in this thread - hope I am just tired and not blind!

OMG,
you're right, it's because it was already used (and attached) in the original version.
Anyhow here it again:

to avoid the same problem in the future (it could happen again to people to store un unamed pattern) I added a check in the filter, to skip it.
I post the amended version below.

filter TexturizeByAreaByColourSE

After what encountered by Pat, to avoid problems to those who accidentally store unnamed patterns (patterns which show up in the list with no name, only the dimensions), I added a check in the filter, to skip them.
Here the amended version:

Hi Dinasset (again),

When running Glass Frame Effect SE (Python version), if I select "Psychedelic" I get the following error: RuntimeError: Pattern 'Glasstic_8' not found.

This pattern was included with the pattern.zip (it was named Pattern_Glasstic8.jpg)
I renamed it to Glasstic_8.jpg (as shown in the error console). I still got the same error, so I exported it as a pat file, and still the same error occurs. I scanned the python script and only found one reference to "Glasstic_8" (other than the list of patterns at the start of the script).

Any thoughts?
I promise I'll stop bothering you soon !

Thanks,
adam933

Dinasset: Thank you so much for answering my "distress"call. I looked through all my pattern folders and did not find any not named. However, there was a folder, named, but empty. I deleted it and that seems to have solved the problem. I did have trouble once since then and I believe I had the nuances set too high as when I decreased it, all was well. I love your amended version and will continue with it. Thank you again!

I will post my results in the art forum.
