Oh, one more thing...

The texture script can also be used to add a sort of grunge to photos:

For those of you who don't have python, a reminder of my chisel script that does much the same as selection bevel.

I beveled the text, butterfly, and bee. I texture rendered the text. :)

Very nice. Only, the text looks a bit pixelated... do you have the "antialiasing" option turned on when you use the text tool?

@dd As far as I know I have it on in my graphics card because of other things I do. I am not sure if it is an option in GIMP. I did try to look quick. I do have one question does the texture render always come out with no color in it's layer when it is done? Thanks for the plug-ins and I love the cat. :bigthup

@O Thanks :) I like yours and Photomaster's how did you get the colors to turn out that way?

The texture layer is colorless. How it affects your image is governed by the layer modes and also possibly the opacity.

You can change those settings in the Layers window. At the top is Mode: and the Opacity slider is there too.

I suggest you experiment starting with a new image and filling the background layer with a color. Right-click the background layer and choose, Alpha to Selection then going to the Texture script and just use the default settings click OK. Ctrl + Shift + A to turn off the selection.

Be sure you have the texture layer on top and clicked on. Experiment with the Modes and the opacity. Note: you can use your mouse wheel to scroll through the modes.

Lianam your antialiasing option can be found in the text tool options dialog itself.

When you select the text tool, the toolbox shows you the tool options for the text tool... you know, where you select the font, size, etc. There you should see 3 check-boxes: Anti-aliasing, Hinting & Force Auto-hinter. I usually check all of these on. Anti-aliasing makes your text smoother and not pixelated. Hinting aligns the text so that it matches the pixel grid, which hugely improves the readability of text especially on small sizes.

The texture always comes out colourless. If you have the latest version, it should have an option to select a layer mode.
