@dd As far as I know I have it on in my graphics card because of other things I do. I am not sure if it is an option in GIMP. I did try to look quick. I do have one question does the texture render always come out with no color in it's layer when it is done? Thanks for the plug-ins and I love the cat.
When you select the text tool, the toolbox shows you the tool options for the text tool... you know, where you select the font, size, etc. There you should see 3 check-boxes: Anti-aliasing, Hinting & Force Auto-hinter. I usually check all of these on. Anti-aliasing makes your text smoother and not pixelated. Hinting aligns the text so that it matches the pixel grid, which hugely improves the readability of text especially on small sizes.
The texture always comes out colourless. If you have the latest version, it should have an option to select a layer mode.
