I have the Chrominium script and I tried running it over an image... all I got was a chrome plated rectangle. I got the script from the gimp registry and unfortunately, the creator of the script doesn't explain how to use it or give an example. Any one use the script?

I have only got Chrominium under create > logo
Could be talking about something different.
Got a link where you got it from?

The script does basicly the same thing, but it's located under Filters>Alpha to Logo>Chrominium.

File > Create > Logos > Chrominium... for text
Filters > Alpha to Logo > Chrominium...for images/shapes other than text or text as well.

Thanks Wallace. I wrote over the script too.
It isn't working for me in Alpha to logo all the way yet. I am getting a few layers but it doesn't look finished.
Should I wait a while (usually there is a bar moving along the bottom of gimp if something isn't finished) there is nothing there.

I ran the Alpha to Logo Chrominium Script on a circle and these are the layers it produced.

I'll try it again tomorrow. I got all of those layer but it didn't have black as the background or a shiny top layer. My gimp may need a rest.
By the way I didn't change any settings....I just ran it default.

Issabella,
as other alpha-to-logo scripts, also this one just creates the chrominium look only on the alpha-to-selection (or selection) part of the image
nothing special (having around so many text and alpha manipulation scripts, better than this one...IMO)

Back to my question... how does it work? Is there an example of how to use it on an image? I still don't get it and I really like this script.

Here's what I got when I ran it through alpha to logo.

I still don't get it. Although, it makes a good texture.

mackencieh, I tried the script with a draw that Lyle put in the forum. That is the result. Draw on a alpha layer - Logo to alpha - chrominium script.

I tried using the xcf file and all I got was a white square.

Remove the one you have just in case and install this one in zip.

Maybe you might want to try it on some text and see how things go. Or create a few shapes using the Free Select Tool, fill them in with white or black and try the Chrominium Script on that. Be sure that whatever layer you run the script on that there is transparency to the layer. Or just create a new layer that is transparent to make your shapes on, then run the Chrominium script on those shapes.

I find this script very nice applied on Text, but the chrominium effect on image is lost. Is that like that? or is it any problem on image? Mine, applied above has no chrominium effect. :(

@mackenzieh
The version of chrominium.scm at http://registry.gimp.org/node/2488 is an old one and doesn't work properly.
Use the version Isabella attached above.
