Here is the new version of the Joined-upText plugin - version 1.03 - intended to work on Gimp version 2.8. If the old script worked for you, on earlier versions of Gimp, this one should work too.

This script requires the installation of my JoinerVariations-v3 True Type font. It is not compatible with earlier versions of JoinerVariations so it is best to remove older versions of the script and the font to avoid problems. JoinerVariations-v3 will appear as JoinerVariations in your font list within programs.

The filter can be accessed via Filters > Text FX > Joined-up Fonts... dialog. No changes have been made to the dialog box since since the last version. Here is the usual link to a topic about viewing large dialog boxes in py scripts.

This new version uses extra characters in the font for joining to letter 's', which was always not quite there, and to letter 'z'. Many of the characters have been modified to overlap as little as possible - a little overlap is necessary to view correctly on the screen.

One purpose of this new version was to make it easier to wrap text around circles and other curved shapes. Follow this link to a thread about circular text themes.

Hello! I really like your script. I was playing with it today and the first time I tried, it went perfectly to get the text around the path. As this was just jumble words to test, I tried again but have not been able to get the text around the path. Nothing happens when I go to the Text to path command. Since it worked once for me I think I am making some stupid little mistake. Any suggestions?

Am having trouble too Pat. I haven't followed SH pdf yet only the online instructions.

Sallyanne, I read his .pdf instructions again. If you go to the Helper Sheet #1 and follow those instructions, where it says at the beginning of step 7 to "Click on the Text to Path" option, it should be "Text Along Path". That is what I did the first time when it worked without a problem.

Thanks for spotting my mistake. I have now amended the help sheet so that the text now reflects the menu entry. Hopefully it won't confuse anyone else.
