Just published.
http://gimpscripts.com/2017/02/anotherdrawingstyle/

Nothing terrific, nor cool.
It's simply -as the name says- Another Drawing Style.

You know I have a bias for Paintings/Drawings, so that there are never too many ways to produce them, for me.

Some hints on the usage:
1.the filters creates the drawings using a common brush for strokings
you may change the default or -maybe even better- create your own
2.the filter is quite slow, so do not use large images as input
just a couple of numbers: on an image 1024x768 it takes 1 minute
on an image 1600x900 it takes a bit more than 2 minutes
3.naturally a drawing is grayscale, and so is the default outcome, but for those who like colours -like me- you may set "desaturate=no"

Hope you enjoy this new filter.

Graechan (and likely Meemaw) discovered a bug when Desaturate=Yes and Flatten=No.
Here the temporary fix.

edit:
<--- attachment deleted --->
fix officially released on Gimpscripts

A usage hint:
- the "emboss" option -as it is applied on the filter- adds little changes to the outcome and takes quite a lot more time.
- if you really like specifically the emboss effect better to run the filter w/o emboss option, then perform it manually afterwards.
Here an example:
1) no emboss option active

2) emboss option active

3) emboss applied manually on the first outcome

Dear Dinasset. Your new drawing style is quite nice. I hunted for it in vain. Can I have the filter, please.

No problem Ella Louise.

However,
I can't say,
that this filter will work in the latest version of GIMP.

You're right, Wallace. It doesn't work in Gimp 2.10. I see the plug in showing up but when I click on it nothing happens.

I'll have to try it in my 2.8 version.
That's for tomorrow. Time to sleep now :nite

Thanks Wallace for your support.
About 2.10:
In spite of having reached mod level 4 (2.10.4), gimp 2.10 still does not accept a brush as a predefined parameter.

For Ella Louise and all those who are working using Gimp 2.10:

the attached version should work on 2.10 (ported)
beware, because of my previous indication on an error still present on 2.10, the parameter "brush to be used" is now a simple string; no problem if the user accept the default, but if he/she wants to use another brush, the "browsing" possibility is no more available with the string, you have to enter the exact name of the brush you want.
Also, I changed default for emboss=yes because on 2.10 that feature is not slow (a few seconds more).

here the filter

Diego, I like your filter, thank you.
Used it in my 2.8 version. The other one I will try out in 2.10.
