SpiderPaint v2c qt2 will run on GMIC QT 2.0x
will not run on older versions,

older version SpiderPaint needs G'Mic 1.7.9

Folllowing this are some picture examples in 7zip format (except for #4), they include extracted subject .png files
an Info.jpg which shows settings and layer visiblilty and an outcome. #2 also has an additional tip.

It is made to be creative with, if you so choose, not a one touch outcome by any means.
The examples should get you going, I know they show a different version of gmic,
but this version only works with 1.7.9. I will update it when the new G'Mic 2.0.0 version is
out of pre-release status.

Please if you have nice outcomes and everything is working good, post them on
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=15419

SpiderPaint v2c qt2

GMIC QT 2.0x
will not run on older versions,

Quick explaination of commands

Process size does not resize the output. Only for processing.
A higher process size gives a tighter 'webbing'
A lower process size gives a looser webbing.

Intensity -- not normally needed. Controls #loops when
building layers. You can experiment.

Command String has changed with additions.

The commands are not case sensitive. Y or y, X or x all ok.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1st Position -- control layer creation
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y = Yes create this layer.
F = Create this layer and let it cover the entire image.
N = No, don't create this layer.
the F option is available only on layers 2,3, and 4.
The Sparkle layer is always F if you choose to use it.
Note: Layer One is used for the stitched background so,
if 1 is set N and stitched background is selected,
you will get layer 1 in the output stack also.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Always separate the commands with an X or x as delimiter
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2nd position -- color options for the layer
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0 = Normal (Plain) color
1 = Boost color
2 = Desaturate color
3 = Remove White
4 = Super Boost color
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Always separate the commands with an X or x as delimiter
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3rd position -- choice of Solidify preset 1 - 35
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 2c QT2 has 15 added Solidfy presets to experiment with
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Always separate the commands with an X or x as delimiter
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4th Position is Scale % for processing the layer. up to 200%
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Always separate the commands with an X or x as delimiter
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5th Position is Noise setting .00 to 20.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Always separate the commands with an X or x as delimiter
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6th Position is Segment Length setting .50 to 15
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Always separate the commands with an X or x as delimiter
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7th Position is Morph amount 0 - 10
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Added
Options to Smokey Borders layers
All=Light and Dark layers, Light or Dark -- all same as before 2 each.
Thick (set of 3), Medium (set of 3) and Thin(set of 3) -- all new, all dark
Thick sets also include light smokey border and subject & dark subject.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Added
More options on the 'Stitched background'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bubble Background - a Max Boost for color was added.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You must use an image with alpha and transparency. Even if the
transparency is a 1 pixel eraser in a corner.
If you are using a 'full' image with just a nick of transparency -
you may as well select N to all background layers - they will have nothing
to work on and will just take up time.
You could use F on 2,3 and 4 though.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As is normal for me, this script produces a layer stack for you to
experiment with and personalize the outcome.
==================================================

*******************************************************************
INFORMATION FROM OLDER VERSION BEGINS:
*******************************************************************

If the script is not working for you, please post on this thread.

Of Importance:
This script runs on an extracted subject with a transparent background for best results.
You can quickly add an alpha channel to your subject and remove a few spots and the script will run,
but part of getting a very nice outcome is preparing the subject before use.

This script will fail if the subject is all black, change the color to gray and it will be fine.

This script has many calls to G'Mic and may be slow, it runs in about 2.5 minutes on my system
when choosing processing size from 2000 to 4000)

Output size will do a final scale for you. My preference is to scale the output myself, after I have seen it, so 0 is the default. Output size does not affect processing size.

Process size lower will give 'looser webs' and higher will give 'tighter webs'.
Process size does not affect the output size.

There is a learning curve - the good news is the layer defaults work pretty good.

The layer command string starts with Y or y for yes, N or n for No and means create this layer or not.
Commands on each string are delimited with X or x (Y, X, N are not case sensitive)
The 2nd command: Desaturation the layer with choice of Y(es) or N(o).
followed by X delimiter
The 3rd command in the string is a choice of 20 presets for G'Mic Solidify at this time.
This choice can make a small or large variation of the 'web/plasma'
(If you enjoy this script, make a set of all 20 with the same settings for the rest of the command line, and save the outcomes a folder so you can refer to them later)
followed by X
the 4 command: scale percentage for the layer (default at 50). Works good at 50 for the styles shown here, at a processing size of 2000.
delimited with X
Again, you may research changes and save properly named outcomes to refer back to.
the 5th command: is the Noise parameter in make G'Mic make squiggley. Again, keep a command string constant and save a set of images showing the changes for reference. 0.01 will be a
thin and mostly uninterrupted lines. 20 will be much different.
delimited with X
the 6th command is Segment Length in G'Mic make squiggley. Your choices here are 0.5 to 15. Try them and see.
delimited with X
the 7th and final command is Morph setting, if it is too high, your outcome will look like the sparkly
layer in which case choose a lower morph setting It is an integer for 2 to 10 in G'mic, but when
called from the script 1 seems to works.
Layer 8 drop down allows you to output a 'smokey' border and 'smokey' subject layer in either a
light or dark version (or both)
Layer 9, the 'sparkle' layer defaults will add some 'sparkles' to the subject. Normally the default
setting work OK. The 'sparkles' are created by setting the Morph too high.
Layer 10 is a 'custom layer' you can copy a command string into it or type one in.
you may want to use a different Solidify option and choose between them...
The 'stitched' background has a drop down selection that you can choose from.
The 'bubble' background also has a drop down selection.
The 'extra, cut highlights' button will give you a few more Highlight layers to choose from.

Am sure I have the script scrolling interface. This one runs of my screen. I get to about 10 and about three lines after then it stops - no ok button etc

I've tried this nice script but it does nothing on the picture. No errors appear either.

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

Sallyanne, I am sorry, but I have no idea what to do about that.
What is your screen size and resolution, maybe you could set your resolution higher...
On even my smallest 20" monitor at 1440 x 900 resolution, this interface fits well within the Gimp workarea.

Try this one Sallyanne, I took the explaination lines out of the dialog. Please let me know..
Other than this, I could take out some of the layer creation lines out if I was at home...

Issabella,
The only way I can get it to do nothing with no errors is to
have the Error Console Tab open and use a regular .jpg image.
It will give an error message popup if the Error Console tab is not open.
--- if the image is just transparent and black it will not work,
just change the color from black to gray or another color.

This script needs a subject image which has an alpha channel and
has some area erased so that there is a clear area showing so
that the background layers have a work space.

Are you using G'Mic 1.7.9 ?
Are you using an extracted subject with alpha channel?

Maybe try downloading a new copy in case it was corrupted.

Hardy,
Yes, the error message was due to using a subject image which had an alpha channel, but
it had no transparent areas for the background layers to be created on.
Nice Shoe!

My screen is only 7 + inches high. I think it is only about 15 inches diagonally.
May be one of the other script coders can tell you how to have it run with the script/plugin scrolling interface. Is the reason it was made so that those with smaller screens could get to see all of the options etc.
Hope it happens soon. I'd like a play.

It is now my understanding that the scrolling interface is supposed to
do its job with no extra coding in the scripts. This is a python-fu script.
There are a couple of scrolling versions. This is all I know at this time.

Did you try the custom version I posted for you above (on post #12),
it just might do it. I removed the long text line at the top and it may
have caused an issue with your scrolling interface script.

Oops, Sorry I have no idea why that pictures posted twice.
I figured it was a py file.
The script is supposed to work with Scripts and Pythons :) It was posted well after a lot of scripts were made so and people never made any changes to their scripts to accompany it. Works with all my other ones.
Thanks for posting the customised one for me. :)
I'll try one more thing first and if that doesn't work I'll download it.

My first try
The filter ran on a smaller image of mine. I kept on getting error messages when the images were still full size.
Thanks again for customising the script for me. Still doesn't quite fit but I can use it. The tops of the 3 bottom buttons are exposed
This is of another, smaller dandylion seedhead and brown tree leaves

Good, moving in the right direction!
How large are your images?
What are the error messages?
Provided your G'Mic version is correct,
Should only throw errors if the image is not extracted (with some areas erased to a clear see-though background).
Thank you,
Brian
