This script makes your polygon art more accurate because it uses average color of your selection (of polygon).
The script is very simple but it helps a lot of you want to do polygon art manually by just using the free select tool.

Works nicely! I just tried it on a picture of my pal named Cody. It was a small image and I just did a quick test.
I like how it works!

This took a bit longer, but I like the results. I just need to make smaller selections next time.

It does work great but make sure you name the layer "Source" with a capitol S. LOL

Image

I also noticed you have to Select>None to get a new color average. Otherwise it adds selections and colors them all the same hue.

Way too lazy; any good way to automate the selections? :)

Lazy people like me (and Lyle, it seems...) can stick at standard Gimp Mosaic

True, Diego, but do like the cleaner look of smart selections. :)

The more manual the piece involves, the cooler it looks i think..unless we had AI that was smart enough to replicate the manual process.

Would be cool if it was possible to add points on another layer to automate somehow the creation of areas.
Something like voronoi path? Never used it so I don't know what's the philosophy behind it just saw it here in this Japanese Gimp site.
I grabbed from that site some interesting scripts also that I haven't seen anywhere else (maybe cause I'm just dumb), but you need to translate the Japanese texts if you want to use english.

That's really cool Photomaster!
I didn't really think about selecting shapes other than triangles and 4 or 5 straight sided polygons.
You selected all sort of shapes in your image and it turned out very cool.

Yeah; toyed with Polienergy quite a lot, Diego. It's how I now do my x/y plot renders. Also, nice abstract result you did too. :)

Because Ctrl-F sure beats O, then drag and drop color on to area, then F, not considering if you want to work on separate layer you'd have to do more switching back and forth between layers. :hehe
