Hi!

I am trying to save my work as PNG multiple layers for an animation inside a video I will do on Lightworks. I was planning on using GIMP to do this. But I am having trouble installing the plugin. I am illiterate as far as programming goes and I do not know why this is not functioning. :gaah The menu doesn't appear at all in Gimp. Here is a resume of what I have and what I did. Any kind of help is welcomed.

I have: 64bit Windows 10, Python 2.7.22 and Gimp 2.8

I uninstalled Gimp. Then installed Python, then reinstalled Gimp.

In GIMP, under filters, Python-fu, console I get this:

"GIMP 2.8.22 Python Console
Python 2.7.10 (default, May 23 2015, 09:40:32) [MSC v.1500 32 bit (Intel)]
>>> "

So I think Python is recognized by Gimp. I copied the plug-in files for the extension here:

C: \Utilisateurs\Nathalie\ .gimp-2.8\plug-ins

The files copied are:
export_layers (file)
pygimplib (file)
exportlayers.py

Can someone tell me what I did wrong or what I need to check? I like working with GIMP but I need to be able to export animation.

THANK YOU!

1. No need to install Python in Gimp 2.8.x Gimp already contains the required python libraries. (You have looking at too many old Gimp 2.6 tutorials ;) )

2. That plugin has never worked for me. At best it crashes.
If you do need to try it, there is a whole folder export_layers + a single file export_layers.py that goes in your Gimp profile C:\Users\yourname\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins I think that is what you indicated in your post.
If it works, the menu entry will be bottom of the Files menu.

An alternative: http://registry.gimp.org/node/25029 download the file anitools.py.txt rename it to a plain anitools.py put that in your plugins folder. looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/Ke3efdx.jpg
Exports png's in the form 001.png 002.png ....

I use "Export Layers preserving names" by paynekj who is on this fourm. I exports all layers as png's using the layer names to name the file. I am not sure where I got it from, but someone here should know.

As this plugin is out dated or may be it is inactive on current issues, I made scripts for the same purpose. Please find it in Gimp Scripts - Export layers - Github -> desmarty/gimp_script . (This is an essential part of gimp. So I had to develop it by myself. It is a script, so it may not be broken in future releases of gimp. I am working on other essential modules for gimp too. Hope it is helpful to someone. Thank you)
