The zipped folder contains the plugin and its associated joined-up fonts.
Download and install the plugin to your plugin folder. Install the fonts into your gimp fonts folder.
The filter can be accessed from Filters>>TextFX>>Joined-Up Text...
There are two new features in this update which allows you to use other, normal fonts with the filter and to repeat text along a path.
Here is a very quick example with both types of fonts:

Here is an example of using the repeating option along a spiral path - again with both types of fonts:

The repeat fits as much text as it can along the path - without distributing the letters evenly with packing spaces. I may add this at a later date.
I have added a visual indicator to show that the filter is busy computing the transformed text even though the dialog box may indicate that the filter is not responding. Long paths can take some time to finish: This spiral path with my joined-up font took over 7 minutes to complete on my machine.
Here are the links to solutions for using long dialog boxes, like this, with python plugins:

The Font option is now the standard Gimp font selection tool.
To repeat text along a path set that option to Yes.
The path compensation option has been altered to default to no compensation. It can be set for joined-up fonts in both repeated and non-repeated mode. I have disabled it with normal fonts in repeated mode.
I have altered the wording for some options (blue highlight boxes shown in the dialog box image).
