In addition to "porting" it, I changed many aspects, so you may find this version either more agreeable (like I do) or less agreeable (I hope not).

The results are great in both filters. They are similar but for 2.8.xx the results have a nice relief that makes the most evident difference.
I really love the results of both filters.

One more excellent filter, Dinasset.

Issa, there is a problem in gimp 2.9.9.
Immediately after gimp launch, set the active brush to "2. Hardness 100", because otherwise -if you have as active brush one with a low hardness- g299 set that hardness also to the brushes I create from the flowers patterns, and they look blurred.
Try

Have a look to your image of "dos caballos" after i set the hard brush.

I modified the filter to set the hardness inside.
Try using this version

Tested this last version: even if the active brush has a hardness of 25 when launching the filter, the generated flower brushes now use the hardness = 100, as set at the beginning of the filter. So it's OK.
