Version 0.01 Custom Font Outliner
This version adds the effects created by the Shine filter and the Chisel or Carve Filter. I have included both filters in the zip file with the Outliner filter. If these ‘effects’ filters are not present the other features of the Outliner filter should continue to work.
Download the filters and copy the scm files into your Scripts folder and the Outline file into your plugins folder.
The Chisel script used is version 1.3 written by Rob Antonishen which I updated to run in Gimp 2.10. The Shine script is the very early version 0.01 written by Graechan which I also updated to run in Gimp 2.10. It will appear as Shine-001b and so you will not have to remove any other version from your system.
The new options in the filter dialog (in the red box) control the way that the Outline filter uses the these other two filters. Most importantly you will not be able to use them unless you have the ‘Merge outline with its letter layer’ set to Yes.

The only options for the Shine filter are to allow the Outliner filter use it and to set its azimuth. The drop shadow options from the original Shine filter are not accessible.
The available options for the Chisel or Carve filter are slightly fuller. The only ones that may need some explanation are:
Chisel off edges - set to No will provide the Carve in chisel option as in the original filter.
Hard edged chisel – provides a straight cut effect. If set to No it creates a softer, rounder cushioned effect.
The ‘Use Chisel or Carve filter before Shine’ is reversed when set to No.
The main advantage gained from using the new options is that the filters can be applied to all the layers in the custom font file. Just click OK and Outliner will chug its way through them all.
Examples to follow.
