I got this old script working again. The zip of the .scm is available below.

Here is one of the image results:

The higher the blur the "softer" the bump map. Can be found in Script-Fu/Logos

Another example after running DD's bevel on the woodenletters image (duplicated the text layer, bump mapped the original text layer):

I'm not sure how many people know about it but you can get a very good wood texture maker from here: http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/ww_overview.htm It has a lot of options, is tileable and free. i've used it from time to time for several years. I wish i could afford and justify their genetica but $900 is stupid.
Sorry if this us off topic but it seemed like a good place to mention it.
