Greetings,
I have been searching for a script that makes a Matrix rain image, only found one but not as good as it should be. Any tips to where I can find one?

'Matrix rain' is an animated video loop you could search for on youtube with the 'creative commons' filter switched on. Looks like you want to use this effect on something other than keyboard alt codes? Do you want a still image or an animation?
A geeky way to make it would be to code it in a terminal emulator and then take a screen recording of the output. :)

I found this Photoshop tutorial on youtube.

www.youtube.com Video from : www.youtube.com

I was able to create this image in Gimp,
that you see below.
By following along with the tutorial.
Of course you have to apply "Gimp's" way of doing things,
but I think it came out pretty good.

Please see Matrix Rain Effect Plug-in.
This script/plug-in was requested/asked by Wallace last night and I just finished writing it.

There is an application here and a source code for an animated version call "Matrix Fall X". I ran the exe and is very nice. Here is the link: https://www.planet-source-code.com/vb/s ... 4&lngWId=3

Hi Trandoduktin
I do not have the opportunity to test GIMP-2.10.6 on my old 32 bit laptops (Win XP § Vitsta).
The novelty is apparently the vertical text - about which you write is not supported?

good to know for future scripts if there's opportunity to use vertical text I'll use it in GIMP 2.10.
For this one the rotated text looks okay to me because it's not too large so it's hard to tell if it's vertical or horizontal (rotated)... mostly because the script is already done and I don't want to go back to change it.

I just discovered this computer has a fully animated 'XMatrix' screensaver.

Image

It's part of the XScreenSaver collection used on Ubuntu.
So the coding is already in this system.
Jamie Zawinsky has been maintaining the Linux Xscreensaver collection since 1992. Amazing :)
Because it's a full screen saver I couldn't do a screen recording of it and turn it into an animated GIF.
Matrix Rain is supposed to replicate monochrome monitors.

Yeah, I also have the Xmatrix screensaver in my Mint 19. It's probably been around for ages, I never use screensavers anyway. This one is kinda cool I guess....

Nice images Pat625.
I'm left wondering why a discussion about an animation sequence from a movie ended-up with static images? At least racer-x made an animated matrix rain. Am I missing something?

The OP (seen below).
Made by Mr Ed,
makes no mention of animation.

Perhaps this is why static images are being posted.

We needed a script to remove the background from one layer? Now I'm really confused.

Could try Color To Alpha: Black,
on the layer you want the background to be removed.
