I have Gimp-2.10 Portable on a USB stick. It works fine.
Now I downloaded, on another stick, the Gimp-2.10.8 Portable version.

Everything seems to be OK. The only thing is I can't get the path shape creator to work.
No problem in 2.10 but in 2.10.8 it doesn't show up after installing the plug inns in the preference folder.

Can anybody help?

I had a problem with it not working at all... realised it was because I had 2 scripts
Just checked. Works in my 2.10.8....Does it's thing. I just have to get rid of the dialogue after because it doesn't disappear. Never did.

Thank you, Sallyanne, for checking your path shape creator in 2.10.8. I just have 1 script and it doesn't show up. Used the plug-inn browser and it finds no path plug-inn. I'll continue my search

Hi Ella. The shape-path-.0.91.scm is a script. I have the Patha portable Gimp 2.10 8 version and it worked. What version you have? Go to your: C:\Users\YourName\YourDrive\Gimp-2.10.8-std\portable\scripts and se if you have it there. If not place it there and it will show.
I uploaded the script in case you don't have it. I hoe this can help you.

Searching on the internet I found that others had problems too in Gimp 2.10.8 with this version.
So I tried with version 7 and 5. Still no showing up

The "Arakne's path shape creator" is working OK here in Gimp 2.10.8 running Linux. I put all the files into a sub-folder and pointed to it in the Gimp plugins folder paths in the Gimp settings.

Sorry racer-x, but I don't know how to do that. Where do I place the sub-folder? And how do I point to it in the Gimp settings?

I put the sub-folder in my normal plugins folder. Then I went into Gimp settings Folder locations for Plugins. I then created a new entry and pointed the the sub-folder I just added. Then restart Gimp.

Edit: The path shape creator still doesn't show up in gimp 2.10 so I'll keep using it in my gimp 2.8 and then I can continue working on my project in gimp 2.10

Racer-x, I downloaded and installed Path Shape Creator in 2.10.8 and I don't see it when I open gimp. I'm using Windows 10 64 Bit. Also there are 2 shape creator files. One is arakne-path-shape-creator8.py & the other is araknepathcreatorshapes.py which file works & where is the plug in located?

You need them both. araknepathcreatorshapes.py includes the shapes.
Entry is /Filters/Path/path shape creator...

You have wrong folder linked in prefs.
Take the \shapes away from the end.

Did you confirm that any of the .py files are not blocked by Windows?
Especially arakne-path-shape-creator8.py and the other one in same folder, the shapes file.
Right-click and look at the properties.
This should only happen if you transfer the files from USB stick for example, and I checked the originals so it's a long shot.

I'm feeling for you, hope you can get it solved quickly that's weird.
I noticed in the first page that the .py files were associated with notepad, but I don't think that's the problem.
I just remembered that in past when downloading .py files I had to change to "all files" from "text files" in the save as type field when downloading python files, because they wouldn't show up in Gimp even with correct extension.

arakne-path-shape-creator-8 does not work with Gimp 2.10 from gimp.org

Neither do versions 7, 6e & 4d You have to go back to version 2 and that is not worth the effort. I know, I have tried them out.

All to do with part of the plugin (I think drawUI.py) not compatible with the version of python in Windows Gimp 2.10 from gimp.org

It works for racer-x because he uses linux. It works for sallyanne because she is using Partha's 64 bit Gimp 2.10

Why? These use a different, earlier version of python.

The matter was raised in a Gimp bug issue, does not seem to be much response from the devs, I suppose because generally, most python plugins work.

If you want some pre-formed path shapes, try the shape-path script that Pocholo posted. Old but works.

For me, the problem was Not solved until today...

I have always liked this plugin very much and used it very often. Since the change of Pythom MSC to GCC unfortunately for me it stopped working.
And today I found Noone and Pat625 message that it works.

I get only one error for Others/Moon - I can not fix it - just disable this shape - coment line 1521-1561.
For those for whom it also stopped working, they can try the attachment (many separate files have been merged into one).
