You need them both. araknepathcreatorshapes.py includes the shapes.
Entry is /Filters/Path/path shape creator...

Found it!
You have wrong folder linked in prefs.
Take the \shapes away from the end.

Damn...
Did you confirm that any of the .py files are not blocked by Windows?
Especially arakne-path-shape-creator8.py and the other one in same folder, the shapes file.
Right-click and look at the properties.
This should only happen if you transfer the files from USB stick for example, and I checked the originals so it's a long shot.

I didn't transfer the files from a USB stick. The .py files aren't blocked by Windows.

I'm feeling for you, hope you can get it solved quickly that's weird.
I noticed in the first page that the .py files were associated with notepad, but I don't think that's the problem.
I just remembered that in past when downloading .py files I had to change to "all files" from "text files" in the save as type field when downloading python files, because they wouldn't show up in Gimp even with correct extension.

arakne-path-shape-creator-8 does not work with Gimp 2.10 from gimp.org

Neither do versions 7, 6e & 4d You have to go back to version 2 and that is not worth the effort. I know, I have tried them out.

All to do with part of the plugin (I think drawUI.py) not compatible with the version of python in Windows Gimp 2.10 from gimp.org

It works for racer-x because he uses linux. It works for sallyanne because she is using Partha's 64 bit Gimp 2.10

Why? These use a different, earlier version of python.

The matter was raised in a Gimp bug issue, does not seem to be much response from the devs, I suppose because generally, most python plugins work.

If you want some pre-formed path shapes, try the shape-path script that Pocholo posted. Old but works.

Oh, okay. That makes sense. Thanks, rich2005.

For me, the problem was Not solved until today...

I have always liked this plugin very much and used it very often. Since the change of Pythom MSC to GCC unfortunately for me it stopped working.
And today I found Noone and Pat625 message that it works.
https://gimplearn.net/posting.php?mode=quote&f=9&p=25389
I get only one error for Others/Moon - I can not fix it - just disable this shape - coment line 1521-1561.
For those for whom it also stopped working, they can try the attachment (many separate files have been merged into one).
Thank you very much, Noone - whoever you are :clap

Edit: Annex moved to post no # 23

Thank you, MareroQ, for finding that part that will not work and for alerting us. I checked several of the shapes but must not have checked "moon". I never really had an occasion to use it before.

@ MareoQ, for me the problem wasn't solved either.
My solution was to keep using the path shape creator in Gimp 2.8 and finish my work in Gimp 2.10.
I wrote that in post 9 viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17044
That's why I considered my problem been solved (for the time being.)

I'm very happy with the download of Noone.
Although the shape moon doesn't work for me either. I've plenty of choice between the others.
And I thanked Noone on the Gimp Learn forum and you for the edited download :tyspin

I am not a coder (especially gtk) but after the second attempt - Moon it's working fine now.
There is also translation into other languages (if it was developed for version 8 - in the "Locales" version only translation PL and ES)

By any chance... is there a way to make the list font white on dark instead of dark on white?
So it would fit better with the dark style ( and it's less glaring for old eyes).
Tried to find where they define the colours but no success.

I played around with this and it is cool. But let me just say that Pixelitor 4.30 is the best open source program for making shapes. It has true vector layers as well.
