The recent rubber stamp plug-in by Trandoductin got me thinking about this old wax seal script, always liked how it looks.
After using Constantize fixer, it still gave eval unbound error which I managed to solve out.

Menu entries: Logos/Wax Text, Filters/Decor/Wax Seal
For the seal version you need a B/W image, black will become the relief and white background/transparent.
It has a 'hollow' setting that'll let you choose transparency for inner areas.

Nidhogg, your script works well with Partha's portable version. But I can't achieve the cool inner relief effect like you got on your Wilber; If I try bluring the image, the textured effect dissapears.
Could you post the b&w image you used on your wax seal, so I could see where I could improve?
Thank you for the awesome script!

Here is the Wilber version I used Dionisio. Fixed the eyeballs for the second.
Make a black roundish shape or a blot behind and merge the layers.
You need to leave some space between your seal motif and the image canvas.
I didn't use the default settings so you may need to play a little.

Thank you, Nidhogg! I managed to make it work now. I thought we needed to make the input image with shades of grey to have the elevation...
One strange thing is if I blur a bit the input image when I run the plugin the result isn't textured and is kinda flat. Is there are any other way to get rid of the very sharp edges before running the plugin?

Increased border thickness, Bump smoothness and decreased highlight smoothness.
Don't blur the image before running the script, you will end up with messed image and strange sharp edges.
When you find good settings save them in the script. I'm using images around 800x800 pixels.

Thanks for the png image! I managed to do some tests and got some interesting results.

I'll try doing a less detailed seal next time.
My wax ended looking a bit dry because of it, but I liked the result nevertheless.

Very nice script!

If anyone shows interest I can remake this in GEGL. All it would require is adding a few manual things to my gegl:clay filter.

It will be a filter of its own but forked from clay.

I'd be interested in seeing how it turns out.

Me too. :) It would be nice to do this live on canvas.

this one looks best in my opinion. it is basically gegl:cubism, gegl:bevel (set to burn), gimp:colorize (color red) innerglow (set to multiply): box blur and I added a dropshadow.

If I made this a filter it would be extremely slow because GEGL is loading all this crap into memory.

Made with the wax seal file. Made from a (grey) saxophone image.
Background edited with G'mic> arrays & tiles>
shuffle patches.

Jappaloe, that saxophone is a beauty!

Contrast, I really like the wax text. Looks like you are mastering GEGL! Thank you for your time and energy spent making such splendid filters.

Maybe an edge detect setting for detail in the wax seal is possible?
