I get this error message,
when running the plug-in using Gimp 2.8.

However,
the plug-in does run without error in 2.10.

I'm looking to create a phrase of about 7 or 8 words.
Something like,

"She would rather have apples than oranges".

I'd like to be able to use text to path,
instead of having to create all the paths,
as a single continuous path.

For 2.8 try changing LAYER_MODE_NORMAL to NORMAL_MODE.

can't use text to path, (unless you have an algorithm for turning characters outlines into single paths, which I don't know/have).

How would I use this script to create a painted phrase?

From what I can tell.
I would need to create an animated letter for each word and then combine then all together.
A phrase with 7 words could have more then 35 letters.
So that's 50 or more frames per letter,
which comes to 1,750 layers.

Just do the whole phrase on one path (path can be multi-stroke), for example racer-x used a 2 words phrase (VERY COOL) but it's all on one path.
You can just start a new stroke by holding down the shift key and click at a new spot and..that way you can have unlimited number of strokes on a single path.

This also works great to make an animated track mask...

Updated: version 2 - follows path to pixel accuracy (even when using low number of frames).

We're sure not far off from those animation drawn videos that they sell for money...animating marketing characters.
