Here's something interesting I've just discovered. I made this text path in Inkscape. I then separated the path and split it into two paths. I then reversed the path direction of the second path. I didn't know that was possible. I must have some plugin for these options, maybe one of offnuts path tools or something.

I essentially made two track masks to run at the same time. I think it's a cool effect, kinda like the bark is growing in from two sides to form the text.

One more. This one is addicting :) Soooo... many possibilities.
Hey is it possible to add animated brushes? And also force a paint color for the stroke layer?
Here i selected orangy -yellow for stroke and got grayscale or white. Shadow accepted color though.

No I used Inkscape - Extensions > Render>Hershy text>Sans 1-stroke.

I basically just render the alpha track mask.gif for later compositing. I then make the text object the way I want. It's a two step process, but it works well enough...

It's all in how your eye beholds the text. I saw welding at first but it is engraved if you watch closely. :)

Centerline trace in GIMP (Plugin-trace.py=[Despeckling:More, Corner-threshold: 2]) and 50 frames in paint_paths_in_steps.py.

Having fun with this.
I like the Inkscape Hersey Text because it paints in order but it only has a few fonts.
I also like plugin-trace.py because you can choose any font and trace the center line but it paints in random.

I gave this another try.
I used plugin-trace.py and traced center lines.
After the path was created I exported the path.
I open the path in inkscape that said it would make the file a svg.
Then I clicked on edit path and Break Apart and saved it as svg.
I opened it in Gimp and then I could re-arrange the paths to the right order.
I don't know why I did it :hit but I did !
