Older versions (post #37) and discussion:

I was once again inspired by Nidhogg in the post #7

Shellout.py plug-in is very useful but it can not do as much as the Robert(rob_brz1) plugin:
export layer or path - return from Inkscape as layer and / or path.

Version 0.5
add option: Export layer, return as new layer or new image, change menu in Gimp: Filters -> Render -> Connection to Inkscape...

Another question:
In Linux for Gimp 2.10.12 is there also an error for circle paths ?

I have seen that path deformation as well. The SVG opens in Gimp as an image ok, circles are circles but the path has that flattened section.

Another glitch, just noticed after all these years using Gimp.
Open-as-Layers an Inkscape SVG over another layer. Even with 'Import Paths' ticked - no paths.
Strange.

I have also come across this problem. There is a workaround. In Inkscape select the circle and do (Path > Object to Path)

I don't quite get the full functionality of this plug-in yet, made vector circle with Stipe ShapePaths "Circle"and it returned correctly back from Inkscape "Circle #1". No deformations Win10 Gimp 2.10.10.
But the gradient I made in Inkscape did not open automatically as new layer in Gimp. Is that possible?

Will test more on Linux later.

Gimp 2.10.12 - Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa based on Ubuntu 18.04 - Inkscape 0.92.4

MareroQ, thank you for another great path related Plugin!

Plugin works here in Linux as expected. After one short test, no deformation of circle paths when transferring from Inkscape. Gradients are transfered correctly.

The only problem: The resolution of the exchange directory path from '~ /Desktop' to '~ /Schreibtisch' does not work in the German translation.

Unfortunately I have to correct! Inserted in Inkscape, circles are deformed in the described way. Circle paths exported from Gimp remain undistorted unless changed.
