I've been looking for a good backdrop for my band.... wow!
Nice filter and nice work on all of the aspects of it.

Congratulations on getting the script and plug-in functioning again. You've put a lot a work into this and I hopefully wish that the experience has been rewarding (and if it has seemed a bit daunting, take heart in knowing that things get easier).

I would submit a couple of things for you to consider with regard to the licensing of the code.

First, the luminescence script in your ZIP file is apparently derived from one originally written by Michel Douez and distributed under Creative Commons Non-commercial Share-alike licensing. As a derivative of his work, it is incumbent upon you to employ the same licensing ("share alike") and you should not be using the GPL license without permission to do so from Michel. If you wish to use GPL licensing, I would be willing to work with you to create a script that accomplishes the same things, but which would not be derived from Michel's code. Since scripts by their very nature ensure that the source code is available with the program, there is not a whole lot of benefit to switching from the original CC licensing to the GPL.

The Kaleidoscope plug-in is already licensed under the GPL (GNU's General Public License), and it is appropriate that you retain that license. You should, however, include a copy of the plug-in's source code ("kaleidoscope.c") in your ZIP file. Doing so would not only ensure your being in compliance with the distribution license of the program, but would also facilitate further improvements and continued availability of updated versions on all platforms.

Best wishes on your dog's speedy recovery.

Is this more like what is Required

; GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program
; Copyright (C) 1995 Spencer Kimball and Peter Mattis
;
; Original script written by Michel Douez
;and posted on "abcdugimp.free.fr - creative commons licence"
;
;This collection of scripts was originally found to contain errors
;that have all been corrected and had some new featues added,
;by Graechan, the crew at Gimp Chat, and Fenceposts Anim-Kaleidoscope script.
;I hope you enjoy it.

and I know Saulgoode is correct

When I get it correct I will re-post the script.

In the readme file you place the kaleidoscope.exe in what is a linux file system folder. So, I assume it works with linux if I have wine installed. True?

Okay, then. I am also getting an unbound variable error from the luminescence.scm:

Error while executing script-fu-possible-images-luminescence:

Error: eval: unbound variable: plug-in-kaleidoscope

Anyone have this problem?

Sorry nixnine but the kaleidoscope file is from my windows system.

I should have stated this more clearly, old age and senility on my part.

I will try to include Linux file when I re-post.

It didn't work for me using Wine. The best bet is to use gimptool-2.0 to compile it:

gimptool-2.0 --install kaleidoscope.c

You'll find it (kaleidoscope.c) with the binaries on the Registry:

Thanks, Graechan, but I compiled it and it works fine.

And thanks Mahvin, that was so easy. Took me more time to write this letter than compile the script.

bhk1914 gave us a tip from Fencepost to use a .005 on the 2nd angle to get rid of the line on the right hand side.

looks fine

Windows users may be confused by the c file and so move also the c file with the exe in a plugin folder (average Windows user will never read a ReadMe file ) but that even if wrong should be harmless

On the other hand Linux users may be a bit confused by the exe (thinking that is for Wine ) but hopefully they will read the read me file

(here i must admit to have not read yet the file, that i suppose contains a how to install on Win and Linux, some info on the use and a line with the credit, )

Place the c file in a separate folder named (LINUX ONLY)
That would let me know don't touch it! :)
