Thank you for the nice script JimmyMarco, I had fun playing with it.

Couple of queries:

Does brush size change with the number of frames and if so why? I'm seeing that with say 50 frames the brush is large, and say 5 frames the brush is small even when I run the script with all other settings the same. Managed to compensate for this by changing the first flake size but hard to predict what size will be produced.

Also the script saves and restores the brush tool's brush size setting, but not the brush angle which is left as modified by the script.

Happy Easter!

Hello, :)

Well done with your designs.

To make a smooth animation, the script scroll down pixel by pixel the smallest brush.
So... frames number and smallest brush size are the same... called "step".

Each following layer of flakes is increased "+ step" and speed up one pixel to build a parallax / deepth 3D effect.
When Size difference = 2 ... increased "+ step x 2"

Examples :
- Frames number 25
- First size setting 1 => First brush size 25 pixels ... second 50... third 75... and so on...
- Scrolled................. one by one pixel............ two by two...

- Frames number 5
- First size setting 1 => First brush size 5 pixels ... second 10... third 15... and so on...

When you choose 5 frames and want smallest size brush 25, First size setting = 5 => 5 x 5.

Same principle with the wind effect, left to right settings : -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3

Less frames speed up the animation more and more, giving rain speed.

For parameters saved and restored, i forgot brush angle...
:gaah ... horrible mistake corrected in the last update today. :coolthup

Have fun. ;)

Hello, :)

Wow ... beautiful ideas you have realized... swimming fishes is awesome... what a surprise... :clap

I worked hard last days to provide the final version of the script.

Objectives :
- add the selection of brush angle, from -180 to 180
- speed up the drawing
- fixe all bugs... yes there were many bugs

Very difficult and ... mission complete now...

Left angle 27° combine with left wind -2 and No rotation brush :

What do you think about my next idea... translate this script in a Python Plugin ?
Is it difficult to program in Python after Scheme ?
Should it be faster in Python ?
How can i do that ?

I'm waiting your good advices. :)

Hello, :)

Beautiful animated picture teapot.

I thought the previous version of script was the final... and nooo...
There was a big bad bug hidden in the lines and i had to chase it.

Now, i'm sure, it's the final fantasy Falling snow (or other brush) script Mark VI.

I'm not sure it should be a good idea to make a Python Plugin.
Perhaps just to see what Python Plugin looks like and if it's faster than Scheme.

Have fun :)

Hi JimmyMarco.

Your script is developing very dynamically. :clap
Some small suggestions:
1.I changed:
SF-STRING   _"Brush name"  "Bristles 03"

to:
SF-BRUSH    _"Brush name" '("Bristles 03" 100 3 0)

also line 68:
(gimp-context-set-brush brush-name)

to:
(gimp-context-set-brush (car brush-name))

2. For my own needs, I have added more descriptions to the menu.
I remember today but I will forget the day after tomorrow or in a few days ...
3. For "Layers number" to 7 and "First brush size" to 6 - description does not match the actual scope (15).

Hello MareroQ, :)

Well done with your own modifications of the UI.

Thanks to review few mistakes made in the comments... updated now below.

For the "SF-BRUSH"... big problem... when i click on the button to display brush selector, Gimp fail and give error message :

Quote:
Plug-in "script-fu.exe"
(C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\
script-fu\script-fu.exe)
attempted to install procedure "temp-procedure-
number-1" with invalid parameter name "paint mode".

I have searched on web sites and tried many things to solve the prob.
The only way to fix it i have found was to replace "SF-BRUSH" by "SF-STRING" using text box fine.

If someone knows another solution it'll be a good thing.

Have fun. :)

I applied the changes that MareroQ suggested and it works fine here. You are having problems because your version of Gimp has issues with blank spaces in process names. No such issue here though.

Hello, :)

Teapot... you surprise me.
What a great idea using bubbles brush and reverse image... or layers order... ;)

It should be a good thing the script has this new toggle option : "Reverse animation" YES or NO
I'll make it as you want... tell me.

As proposed by MareroQ, I have made some changes in the UI :

I'm working on a Python Plugin version and Python language is very different than Scheme.

nixnine asks by MP :

I have downloaded the script and put it in its place but it does not show up in the menu location. I am using Ubuntu 18.04 and Gimp 2.10.14.

Thanks

What do you think about this problem ?

For a first experience, develop a script is a never ending story... :paint

Have fun. :)
