I am looking for the script "Stepped Chisel"
One that works in the current Gimp 2.10.18 / 20 (Windows)
I have attached an old scm file.

The error was in one line procedure that was change for GIMP 2.10. On the line 274 the string "LINEAR" was changed to a number 1.

It will step your image, or a layer, or a selection. I haven't tried it without a selection on a transparent layer yet.

A selection isn't necessary but a layer with transparency and some content is a good idea. In my example above, I first used a whole picture without transparency, then I created a grey circle on a new transparent layer and ran the script on that too and put the layer in grain merge mode. No selection was active in either case.
