Not sure if any of you guys heard of this plugin. Just discovered that someone at a Japanese site compiled it for Windows GIMP 2.x and it is pretty cool. Found a few code samples too. I do like the result of Kuwahara (thought it is a little slow). Many examples at pippon's site too (which I'm linking as well). Just wanted to share and if any of you also know of other cool code snippets for it. Some doglua samples work in glaus too, but not all (project dogwaffle). :)

gluas compile site (I didn't install the japanese font because I don't like to do so, so, if you don't, you will see a lot of wacky characters. lol): http://www.geocities.jp/gimproject/plug-ins/gluas.html

No much excited for this, was a interpreter for LUA script with a few samples included, basically as template to create new Lua scripts.
But no other script were proposed (with a exception )
and axcept Kuwahara the effect included are no too interesting

The exception come from Project Dogwaffle, they create a similar plugin for Lua with new filters
...most quite simple but some cool and they are or compatible with gimp or should be adaptable
http://www.thebest3d.com/dogwaffle/lua/index.html

i remember that when i tried long ago i stumbled and stopped to the "easily adaptable",i can't recall the detail except that looking easy maybe even trivial for developers , didn't look so easy for me

To avoid misunderstunding, the dogwaffle plugin that has a nicer interface is NOT adaptble (or maybe yes by a plugin developer but as it is will not work in gimp )
Intead most of the filters for (dog)Lua should work or may be ported to (g)Lua gimp.

Yeah; had already tried a few (many worked but many didn't either). No where near the quality of G'MIC that is for sure. To chicken to ask David to create a Kuwahara for G'MIC since he's done so much for me already (hint for someone else to do so. ;) ). :)

You realize that David reads Gimp Chat, though, right? ;)

Looks like samj did it again. He compiled glaus for both 32-bit and 64-bit GIMPs. If you are weary about downloading a plugin from a japanese website, then you might feel more comfortable with samj's compile. :)

Ubuntu came with gimp-gluas. It only had one filter (threshold), I've since added about 10 from your linked sources above. Any dogwaffle lua script won't work with gluas, without modifications.

What is it about the Kuwahara filter that makes you want it? I've loaded it, and all it does is blurs the image softly, somewhat. But I found a few more scripts on the Japanese site that are pretty awesome logo scripts.

No permission to share Mahvin and have not done to many with it, but when used in my wacky way, it can make pretty convincing illustrations. Just too lazy to do right now (it is just after 1am; lol). :)

I figured there was something to it. I'm just curious.

No permission to share what? I didn't get that.

It's just an un-written rule that if someone share's their photo for play purposes, that that said person owns all rights to and results create from said photo and you need permission from that person to share results on other forums. Anyway, decided to use a photo from the free photo index to show why I like Kuwahara. Used G'MIC Paint, Kuwahara twice and added some texture for the most part. :)

LYLE - thanks - for another interesting link.
Already difficult to count - how many times you've found interesting things ?
For the convenience of others in the annex (GLUAS SCRIPTS.ZIP) selected scripts to Gluas
(http://www.thebest3d.com/dogwaffle/lua/samples.html:
. . for your enjoyment. Grab'em and experiment, play with different parameters, etc....).
It's strange, but some work only with version 0.1.19

None of the dogwaffle or GUI server scripts worked in gimp-gluas. At least not on my machine (Ubuntu).

One of the best downsizers (not uprezzing) that I've run across is Decimator (bet someone can get somebody with G'MIC programming capability to do this one right). You have to crop and sharpen afterwards, but still, I'm pretty impressed witht the quality of this. Anyway, you are right Mahvin. Looks like any script that calls a dog(or something) subroutine will not work. A few do though. :)

I only found one, that did work. Contrast sharpen. It had no references in the code to GUI or dogwaffle, though. Please share any that do work for you. I might be missing them inadvertently.

Can't remember which ones I got to work from dog-lua Mahvin, but I want to say sharpen by luminosity was one of them. Anyway, I attached a screenshot of all the ones that I have thus far that work (that I tested anyway). :)

For Windows (XP 32-bit) with Gluas 0.1.19 [http://www.geocities.jp/gimproject/plug-ins/gluas.html] - all (of GLUAS SCRIPTS.ZIP) work well

I didn't realize how to get the version of Gluas til I saw your post MareroQ; since samj's is 0.1.20, decided to try it and for a few of the presets I tested, it still works fine. :)

MareroQ:

Could you provide copies of your Windows version gluas, so I can test them with Ubuntu?
