After the series of experiments by Lula, Issabella and myself I feel comfortable in publishing the filter called "DrawSanguigna2".
Attachment:
SIMPLE_GRAPHICS_DrawSanguigna2.7z [3.87 KiB]
Downloaded 40 times

For creating a empty (without drawing lines) space all around the outcome, the filter makes use of so called "Masks" (patterns).
Attachment:
Masks.7z [456.85 KiB]
Downloaded 69 times

You may create your own and/or play with brushes (see the excellent brush created by Lula), to generate the "space around" in the form you like better.

When necessary I increase the size of the canvas with the mask color and then I can center the subject.

While experimenting samj_texture_coloree I started two different processes using it:
- one which is Draw Sanguigna, just closed and published
- another one which I called SylvieTexturesStyle

Time to start showing what this second process produces and get comments.

What is different in this new experiment:
- parameters used of samj_texture_coloree are different
- colour of strokes is a user choice (not fixed "sanguigna") and stored in the outcome
- colours of the source image are used to create the final outcome
First 3 samples (animals):

Interesting !

Why not do the same to the previous filter by adding some colors from the original photos?
Otherwise here is another suggestion (?)

If you want to represent drawings it would be good to change some things Dinasset. In my opinion, there are light areas missing between the pencil lines (represented here by the texture). The tests result seem too dark and make me more think to the photos. No outlines ?

Thanks for the comments
1.I had a similar idea (at end of "Sanguigna"); in this case, should this replace the one just shown? or be a third way to use samj's filter?
2.Yes, I have to work on that

Personally I would prefer that the new filter either the same as the previous one (sanguigna) but then in the colors of the original photo with "screen blending mode" so that the colors appear in soft colors.

"in this case, should this replace the one just shown?"
Yes

OK, got your choice.
Personally I would like to procede in both directions (I don't like to abort the new until I'm not sure I can't get good outcomes out of it).
Hence first I suspend the new and create from Sanguigna a drawing restoring original colours.
This will be practically a variant of the Sanguigna process.
I'll let you know.

Lula, this is my first attempt to generate a drawing using the sanguigna process but ending with original colours restored.
What do you think?

Edit
I choose the second image because I can play with the non active layer.
