Just for clarification purposes:
The location given by Mahvin is global (other than local: ... \lib\gegl-0.4 \) - also works for portable versions of Gimp (eg Samj).

This also works in Linux: /home/yourname/.local/share/gegl-0.4/plug-ins/

It's a much better option than the root directory.

C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Local\gegl-0.4\plug-ins --->This is local, not global.

How do you compile the file for .dll Windows 64bit? I will like to learn!

For starters, you will need Msys2, but do not download the newest release. Nov 2021 release is the release I am using, currently.

I got zzmediangraph.so and zzopacity.so that are cluttering the menu...
Is there a way to make them disappear from the menu?

Ubuntu-MATE 20.04 GIMP 2.10.30, I did not compile just put the 3 .so in gegl-0.4 system wide /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gegl-0.4 my kids have their account as well and can use it.

They are a part of gegl effects, and any other paired dll's for other effects you download will show up at the bottom as well, which is why I think Contrast named them with z, to place them at the bottom. I would leave them there.

No dll here, I'm on Linux, I just did put the three ".so" files in the gegl directory.

There should be a way to group them all in just one entry in the menu, maybe with one file or a declaration to not go in the menu?
The OP has other gegl scripts, with multiple entries in the menu and/files as well, still just for 1 filter.... at this cadence it's gonna be a huge scrolling list if for 1 filter we got three entries in the menu, I can't imagine if others dev do that as well, that is NOT sustainable.

We are in the early days of GEGL's take over. I am confident that in a few years new GEGL filter authors better then me will show up and they won't have to use the hacky zzmethod.

One of the GImp devs I am friends with might incorporate a built in blacklist and filters with the name 'internal" will be hidden by default. Then everything will have to update so zz is replaced with internal.

@Patrice.
That question (and answer) has already been asked here.
I still find it strange since all plugins (* .exe, * .py, * .scm) do not need to register in the menu - why does GEGL Operation have to?

I tried to change the C code:
this:
"categories", "generic",

on:
"categories", "hidden",

and that seems to have worked as well.
However, it needs more testing.

@Contrast_
You are trying? (or consult a developer friend).

Thank you for your discovery. He probably didn't know about that either.

Also, Congrats on editing GEGL's source code.

I'm going to give clay bevel the ability to use an image file overlay but the image file overlay will work best if the color is white.

Clay Bevel got an update that allows the radius to contract up to -10. Before it would lock at 0. This is useful for making the clay bevel effect work better on larger text.

Clay Bevel can now change colors of grayscale bevels and do image file overlays of grayscale bevels. I even added a
desaturate slider to make this process easier.
