Graechan, that is very cool thanks.
I put the 3-D Fun script in my folder, now where do I find it in Gimp. I looked all through animations.

Molly think to this script as 2 separate script

script 1
it need a image to be opened and i believe a image with transparency (as a text or logo on transparent BG)
you will find this scrit in Filters/Alpha to Logo/3D FUN.

script 2

Will create a new image so you will found where gimp hide similar scripts
File/Create/Logo/3D fun.

If you don't have already them you must install also the other 2 .scm files or the script will not work
Instead you don't need (to do something to install ) the .gif and the README file,you may left both in the zip

(the gif is a example , the readme, well ideally should have also explained what i told you now)

@Graechan

Nice another animation script and from from the example looks cool

PS i will not hope any Windows user read a ReadMe file even if you was so kind to add the .txt extension

But just in case may be better add a line to explain where to find the script in the menu

Again few will read the readme but at least that will allow you to reply to similar questions with

"ohhh ...please...PLEASE, READ the READ-ME before ask !! :yell "

PC, I did read the text script, it says scripts go into your script folder, which I already did but I don't see anything about where to find it in Gimp.

text file:
Scripts go into your script folder, Note! you may already have the 'fp-script-fu-move-layer-anim'script or the 'combine-bg.scm'.
The GMIC Plug-in is available from here http://sourceforge.net/projects/gmic/files/

@Molly
You may have read the txt script but maybe you didn't read well my FIRST message. i try again

Molly think to this script as 2 separate script (THIS i am not talking about the 2 other scm files)

script 1
it need a image to be opened and i believe a image with transparency (as a text or logo on transparent BG)
you will find this scrit in Filters/Alpha to Logo/3D FUN.

script 2

Will create a new image so you will found where gimp hide similar scripts
you will find in File/Create/Logo/3D fun.

More clear now ?

yes I did look well, I know it is in my script folders, just checked AGAIN. O well, it is not that important, I just thought it looked like a nice script. I thought it would be in animations.
I wish there was a way to have an alphabetical list of all the scripts and where they are. They are getting harder to keep track of all the time cuz they are getting so plentiful.

Molly I understand your frustration at not being able to locate scripts. I learned long ago that to know where the scripts are, I need to open the .scm file in gedit or notepad and scroll down to the bottom of the script to see where it is supposed to go. I am in the habit now of changing the location of new scripts so that they are where I can find them in a method of categorizing which I - and probably no one else -- can understand. The filters I use most are under <Image>Robert/Artistic/. . . But I do it from the beginning of the script installation. There are a couple which cannot be changed -- gmic, mathmap, etc.

Thank you nixnine. I will place that scm into notepad++ and check it out.

same place I already looked and also made a scrn shot, it isn't there. strange huh,
"<Image>/Filters/Alpha to Logo/3D FUN..." this is taken from notepad++ It definitely is in my script folders in both Gimps 2.6 and 2.7

Edit: Ok, I found the problem. I have the script in 2.6 and 2.7. All along I was trying to locate it in 2.7 and it is not there. I went into 2.6 and it is there. I have the JamesH version of 2.7 so maybe that script doesn't recognize that version of Gimp.
thanks guys. and it works too. woo hoo

@ Nixine

Logo script as this are tricky:
they install in 2 different menu (and yes i opened the script with the notepad, the 2 path i wrote are from there )

And what the version in the first menu can do ( that in File/create : will create a new image the other require ta image to edit) the other cannot do...and vice versa

This not for a real limitation of the script fu but just to preserve a habit of thinking diffuse on developers
(they like distinguish between plugin that require a image open, even if the image would just be overwritten and plugin that will create a new image.
To me looks a bit weird since script and plugin may do both, but old habit are hard to change )

@Molly
Happy you solved!
weird that doesn't work on JamesH version

PS Molly

now look ALSO in File/Create/Logo menu.
Because even if has exactly the same name the script there may do things that the other in Filter/Alpha to Logo can NOT do and vice versa

@Molly

MOST of the script in Filter/Alpha to Logo do the same (have a often more powerful twin hidden in File/Create/Logo/... )

Also for this would be needed a video, most think that is just a way to call the same script..nope...similar but with very different options...

Molly as I wrote the script using my James H version for testing it definately works in his 2.7. install.

Special thanks to Photo-comix for helping out,with the original Info for this script.

Thanks for the new script.Pretty awesome. :)

Off Topic -
This is exactly why we need a script finder for Gimp.It would make it so much easier for people to find them in the menus.Especially if you have many installed, or are a new user.It can get very confusing.

Plugin Browser works to an extent but not good enough.

This doesn't run well in Parthas Gimp-2.7.4 install
It runs but quits with no change in the image layers.

Create new gets to GMIC update filters and stops.
