I just tried your font, Nixnine, and its OTF font. And it made a plate just like your's did, so I tested another OTF font. Same thing. I systematically went down my list of OTF fonts, same thing.

Then I chose a TTF font. All was well.

I tried it with an OTF font and got those results, too.

Great detective work, Mahvin! Image

Also, it only happens on Copper setting. Weird!

I guess I am done experimenting, because now all the OTF fonts are working just fine. At first I thought maybe it was a metallic color causing the problem, and discovered its more a fluke with initially using OTF fonts. Maybe it self-corrected, or maybe it will start all over again tomorrow.

The first otf font I tried, Bandung Hardcore GP.otf, gave me the metal plate. A subsequent try with it gave me 3D text but it cut off the letter. Only difference is I made it a different size. I did notice when I was doing OTF fonts that my processor had to work much harder and it took longer.

These two OTF fonts worked for me. DisplayOTF.otf and Ballet. otf.

OTF using one letter that got chopped. The first try with this font resulted in a metal plate. DisplayOTF.otf

Well, maybe not. I tried otf and ttf and both result in the plate. Sorry. Will post results after church displaying the two formats.

Here is mine with Display OTF font set at expand 1. Leaving it at zero, I got the regular text.

Well, guess it's time to throw in the towel. Obviously I've got something weird here -- like always, haha -- and cannot resolve the problem. But thanks anyway, guys, for all your help.

I would just put a note in the script that it acts weird with OTF fonts cuz it is a great script Graechan. In all my fonts I only have one OTF font so I can see no problem.

Graechan, can you update this script? I would love to test it, AGAIN...

Interested in seeing if it still has OTF font issues or not.

That's because it was written before g'mic started using QT.
You have to fix it for the QT version.

I grabbed it from this topic though:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11321&start=0

- modes fix.
- plug-in-gmic -> plug-in-gmic-qt.
- gimp_tk_metallic -> fx_tk_metallic in qt, same fix for the 3d extrude.
- 6th argument.

plug-in-displace type error, replaced 0 with 1.

I think it requires bigger font size than the default value, around 250p.

This version gives me the same error as the first one

Yes it does. I didn't attach my fixed version, waiting nicely for OP.
And because I didn't add the vertical text option which should be added to every text logo script update for 2.10.
