Saugoode has written some excellent mask scripts that allow you to copy a mask to all the visible layers and then apply all of them in one click.

Click the link to each one of them, click Download, and copy them into your scripts folder.

sg-copy-mask.scm

sg-apply-masks.scm

Make a mask on a regular layer in your image. Click the eye on the mask layer and on any other layers you don't want masked to make them invisible.

Then select the mask layer, right-click and click, "Copy mask to layers." Again, right-click the layer and click, "Apply mask on visible layers."

To see an example of them in use, click here.

Thank you O. They'll be very useful. I can't remember who wrote it or where it is but there's one called (I think) copy mask from layer above or something like that. It enables you to create a design on a new layer then right click the layer beneath and create a layer mask from it.
