Thought I would take a rest from glass and paisley (is that realy possible :( ) and have another play with 'path blend' again. I think it is an under rated script, but acknowledge that, yes, it can take a long time on some images.

I have Windows 10. 64 bit, Gimp 2.8.22. I had not used path blend for a long time but not had trouble in the past. Now only works part of the time. Usually does not use the gradient even though it is checked, or does nothing at all. I have reinstalled, and re downloaded a couple of times. It seems to work once or twice, then not. Is there an incompatibility with Gimp 2.8.22? I even get the error message "unable to run GimpPDBProgress callback. The corresponding plug in May have crashed" even when it has worked correctly.

Pat - I have the same basic Windows/Gimp transfiguration as you. Yes, I have noticed some problems with using this script if the 'use sampled gradient' checkbox is ticked; the gradient turns out either all black or all white. This feature is supposed to use sampled components of the actual gradient you have selected. In some cases I found it worked OK but it is certainly not consistent.

I have also received the 'progress callback" error message to which you refer.

When just using the gradient as is (i.e. without the check box ticked) I have not had any problems.

I also had a look at RobA's other script for creating gradients by sampling along a path. It works OK.

An interesting, yet confusing, result.

Also, I might as well ask. How does the overlap function work? I have played with it a bit but I can't see any difference.

OMG, and who ever else is using the path blend script: I have solved most of my problems with the script, at least for now. I am using the add on manager for my scripts. I did not have a duplicate script but another one in that folder must have interfered. I put the script into a folder by itself and now not experiencing problems. I still haven't figured out the overlap thing but that is a minor thing right now.
I did several small paths to see if anything would go wrong but so far, so good!

Good Pat.
Yes, it seems that the best way to manage filters is creating subfolders.
I have currently 31 subfolders in my script_storage (managed by Ofnuts' manager) and 16 subfolders for my python filters (managed bt myself in Preferences).

First one but very good, you may continue, Isabella.
Thanks to Pat for revitalizing this script.

Thank you. I like to play with this script (even if I don't know what I am doing) to see what happens. I believe OMG brought it to my attention at GL. I had a question and brought it here. Now we are playing with the script again. I love the way we re visit some of our favorite scripts!
