Those of you who say it's installed ok, open it up in Gimp and make sure it's not 1.5.1.5 that's opening.

Thanks alc. I noticed your using 64 bit which comes in a zip. 32 bit comes in an installer. The installer says it's installing to Documents and settings/Administrator/Gimp2.6/plugins but doesn't install anything there.

I went to the site and downloaded 1.5.1.6. I removed the old GMIC thru Remove Programs and clicked on the new GMIC 32 bit executable (installer) and it created a new 2.8 user folder with another plugins folder that contained all the GMIC files. that's what made me think that it only worked with 2.8. How do I make it work? Do I just move all those files to my 2.6 folder?

GOT IT! Just move the files from your 2.8 plugins folder to your 2.6 plugins folder Drac. Works fine.

I never use installers if I don't have too; way too easy to just move the plugin into the right directly then don't have the headachs. lol

There's not an installer anyway for 64-bit G'MIC anyway. Still very happy that samj compiled this one. :)

I would have preferred it in a zip but there doesn't seem to be one for 32 bit. G'MIC and MathMap are the must have plugins for me so it would have been horrifying if this hadn't turned out right!

Got it! Just for grins I went thru and uninstalled everything, old and new. I then went to every, I mean every folder and removed all remnants of G'MIC. I installed the new 1.5.1.6 version and just told it to install to my .gimp-2.6/plugins folder and viola! Everything's good now. Thanks Erisian. I guess just to be up to date it automatically installs to the "new" 2.8 folder that should already be there for 2.8 users.

The beauty of the GMIC installer is that it should install in the same place you ask as default every time you update.
When i use the installer it auto default installs into pref_1\plug-ins folder.
Normally now i just install GMIC over the old install and it works fine for me. :)
