Yes it does and I chose English when I installed Fedora-17

This is the one I used that samj posted.

screen shot shows how far it gets before it stops, gaussian blur

I do not think it is a language problem (My version of Fedora is in English and the script-fu works well).

samj, the mystery of this is that it worked when I switched over to Windows but won't work in Fedora, I even went to the terminal->Nautilus and installed the script that way and still the same thing. Has to be something very simple grrrr.

Here's another example. Yours doesn't like the French parts in the script. You could try a find and replace.

good catch but i doubt that the cause:
sure there is a formatting error on same French letters, but from what i see the French is used only for the comment lines (starting with ";" ) that are ignored by gimp

would be different if were similar "empty boxes" inside the code

It doesn't even show anywhere in my portable rev4 from Portable Apps.

Molly maybe you may try something simple:
in linux open the script with a txt editor, ...and just save it and try again

And if doesn't work do again but changing "encoding" (any text editor should have several option for encoding, Ansi, Unicode, etc )

Here is a new version to be tested without the Gaussian blur.

@samj. I tried the one without the blur and it still doesn't work in Linux.

@PC I tried both of what you said and still doesn't work.

This is crazy.

You can try uninstalling your version of Gimp 2.8.0 on Fedora and reinstall it from the official repositories.

@samj. My Gimp is installed from the official repositories through the terminal. When we installed Fedora-17 we did everything all the same time, setting up updates, configuring the advanced settings, installing Gimp, all through the terminal. Everything else seems to work perfectly.

well start gimp from terminal with the command

gimp --verbose

don't close the terminal (but you may minimize) ,in gimp try to run the script again and then copy the console output
To copy select and use Shift-CTRL-C...only CTRL C (usually ) doesn't work to copy from the terminal

Bonjour,

@molly
Which version of Fedora (& desktop) are you using?
I will install this version at home and do the tests.

I installed Fedora 64-bit and I could identify the problem (max seed in plug-in-solid-noise = 2^31 - 1).
The script-fu is corrected.
You can try the script contained in the ZIP archive.
Thank you very much for testing :)

O My, I can't believe this.
It is now working. Could you try in easy language how you found this error or what it was.
I am so happy to know that it wasn't me for a change and I still don't know why I could install that same script in windows and it worked there.
Thank you so much samj.

@molly

Find an error in a script-fu is relatively easy.
Simply place the messages in the code and test.
If the message appears, it means that the code is good until the point of the message.
An example message for Script-Fu :
(gimp-message "TEST OK")

*****

Here's what's changed :

bad code

(plug-in-solid-noise
