Hi all.
I wanted an auto add your image to Flickr plugin, or other image website.Something right in Gimps menus. So you could create your image and upload it for view immediately. All right from Gimps interface. That would be sweet.
I have a menu (added with a script), that has links to my favorite sites. I was thinking maybe that could be edited to contain the upload link for Flickr or Imageshack. But it would be nice to have a plugin something like the Flickr uploader ui.

Image

I figured a python module could be written to open the Flickr uploader program via Gimp like the font and color chooser.

So i decided to re edit one based on Rob A's Shellout and MareroQ'Font Switcher
Zip is attached.
You will find it under Tools>Image Uploaders>Flickr
INSTALLATION-
Download the Flickr Image Uploader if you don't already have it installed from here.
http://www.flickr.com/tools/

USE-
Download the attached zip file. Open it to your desktop or another folder.
You need to place the python module in the UserFolder\.gimp-2.8\plugins folder.
In case of Parthas/Sams Portable installs - place in the pref_1\plug-ins folder.
Edit line #13 to your install directory.
Open Gimp and create an image - save the image - select the Tools>Image Uploader>Flickr from the menu and upload your image to your Flickr account.

IMAGE EXAMPLES -

TESTS-
Tested only with Parthas/Sams Gimp-2.8 Portable with Windows XP 32 bit.
I see no reason however why this could not be adapted to Mac, and Linux installs.

DOWNLOADS-

Updated to 1.6 see posts below.
You will also find an attachment for a link script for Deviant Art Sta.sh uploads. Plus it contains various other useful links. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4651&start=10#p58138

Enjoy! :)

Edit line #14 as usual for your Image Shack Uploader program install directory before use.

Please test in various installs and give feedback.
Thanks.

The python module can be edited to contain any uploader you use.
Just edit the line to your installation directory and the exe file and you should be all set.
As far as i know only Imageshack and Flickr provide installers.Perhaps if someone needs a different one i haven't heard of yet listed in the dialog let me know? :) :bigthup

Thanks Erisian.

A lot of people here have DA accounts. It's a pity there doesn't seem to be a DA uploader.

Nice one Rod!
I had a look at your code to see if it's possible to add Picasa without Picasa installed locally. I found it would require more code than I wanted to take on.

I use Picasa web but I don't use Picasa locally. I prefer Zoner Photo Studio and normally use it to upload to Picasa.

The best solution I could find without Picasa installed locally was another Gimp plugin similar to yours called, GimpPublishr.

Hey Rod why don't you sign up for an API key so that you can make this available to people who may not want to install the necessarily program for Flickr or are unable to install it?
http://www.flickr.com/services/apps/create/
or for image shack?
http://code.google.com/p/imageshackapi/
or Photobucket?
http://photobucket.com/developer

I would be willing to help out?

With this Python module installation of ImageShack, and/or Flickr uploader programs are required for them to work.

You would have to talk to Rob A or MareroQ as the code belongs to them.
