I'm wondering if it would be possible for a script maker to make a script that would automate several different tasks inside of GIMP?

I have developed a technique for taking a structured light photo, then tracing the striped lines using the pen tool and stroking the lines with a brush.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Structured ... 3D_scanner

And since I have a one pixel selection off to the side of the path when stroking the gradient brush fills the selection with a one pixel wide gradient contuour.

But here is my question: Is there a way that I could automate the process of stroking each path, moving the one pixel selection over each time, and then stroking with the pencil tool, time after time until all the pathes have been stroked inside of the 1 pixel selection area which moves over each time?

That is awesome. I would love to be able to just draw a grid on a layer above a photo then use a displacement map and create a 3D OBJ from that. There must be a way it can be done.

Alan, The timing of your post is perfect. I just checked out the tutorials at your site and I think I can learn something about patterns and bumping. Today I was working on beach footprints with only some success.

I will have to try some of your techniques.

Hi Odinbc

A footprint would be easy to do. just make the outline as a selection, fill with a rounded gradient (white outer to black inner) using the Shaped (Angular) gradient, then guasian blur it to smooth it, then use the curves to smooth the transition around the edges of the white. Then just use the bump map filter to give it depth.

Then set the layer mode over the sand layer to get the effect you want.
