I use a folder called My Mathmap for any new MathMap expressions I write or add.
In my case,
C:\Users\Odin\.gimp-2.8\mathmap\expressions\My Mathmap\planetX.mm

Thanks, Rod. It's there. I was expecting it to show up in the first list of folders in Filters. It's there when I open MathMap.

@ Molly: That's a different filter, not the Math Map one.

I guess I don't have Mathmap then. If it doesn't come installed in Gimp where can I get it?

I guess mine is a different edition. I used it not too long ago in a tute. Since I re-installed my Gimp a while back I never did get MM and GAP back in but all my mm files are still in my expression folders.
Anyway, this is the one I have.

Speaking of planetX, here's Planet Mercury.

The script says Radius and the default is .80. What is that the radius of? It seems to have no relationship to the planet size.

Background is Witch's Broom nebula from APOD.

Canvas size.My mistake it looks like layer boundary width.

Well I started out with a 500x500 image, and the final planet size was 324x324 which has no relationship to the .80 radius as far as I can tell.

Hope no one minds me jumping in on this topic with a slightly off topic question but does anyone know where I can get math map for Linux Mint. I've been hunting around for a week or so but everywhere's a dead end, I just get a message saying the binaries are not available for Linux. I'd be happy with an older version if there's no chance of the latest one.
Thanks for any help with this.

Isn't Mint a slimmed down version of Ubuntu? Will the instructions for compiling it for Ubuntu work for it?

Linux
Linux binaries are not available at this point because of a technical hiccup.

Thanks Rod, Sallyanne and Oregonian. I will look into the instructions on installing MathMap via the terminal. It might take some time though as I'm not that clued up on all the command line stuff - it took me about two weeks to switch from Gimp's 2.8.4 back to 2.8.2 but I got there in the end.

@ Oregonian. Mint is based on Ubuntu so I'm going to guess that the instructions for installing MM will work okay.
