That is really cool looking Graechan. :)
Lyle your concoction is awesome as well.

Molly i am sorry i called your penguin a bear. :lol

No Prob.
What I was getting at in my post is that it would be nice to be able to make a selection, and just embroider the part you want and also I find too much black, if a dialogue would come up where you could change that, it would be cool to be able to select a different color for a background instead of the black.

I will work on trying to get those things in there Molly. :)
You can already make a selection with the script and have it just work on that selection.
Make your selection and run the script.

The script uses neon edge to find the colored lines before the embroidery effect takes place. This is why the bg turns black i believe.I am not sure if i can fix that.

Ok, thanks, it will give you something else to work on, lol
Just to think, my sister paid over $2000 for her Janome Embroidery machine which she made me this when I was down in NC visiting her.

so funny :hehe
i was having a look at this thread, thinking: this is kind of nice, but you're never gonna use it....

well today i bought the latest 'Need For Mirrors' release and i like to customize my albumart

so i had a long look at the original, inverted the colors (because black looks better in my musicplayer) and then i thought: this may look interesting with this embroidery script thing, Rod posted *lol*

and indeed it does

This is a fun little effect. I did a few on some family photos, and the kids love it.

How did you get this to not show the black colour?

H1hoshi: the result depends very much on the image, i don't think you can control this script and make it not give black areas. but if you go to colours -> colour to alpha and select black (000000) all the black in the image will be made transparent.

Simply wowwwww for this script. I will use it even for 3D textures now. Cloth, frost, well, there are numerous ways to use it.

H1hoshi I am a little new, and not quite sure of myself yet. I just made a duplicate of the original picture, and inverted the colours on the duplicate.Run the Embroidery script on the duplicate layer. Lower the opacity a little (I used about 50 % on this one) . Then I played with the curves a bit. And that is it. Hope this works for you

This is good, but it would rock with settings.

I have joined today only. I have very little experience with GIMP but want to start playing with it. This embroidery script/plugin looks awesome! :)
