Hey, guys!

Is there any way I can use photoshop actions in gimp? I know there is some plugin that will allow me to use photoshop plugins in gimp, but what about photoshop actions?

Thanks!

There is a project called GIMP# (GIMP Sharp) that can run some actions but it's not anywhere near 100% compatible with PS actions. Also, the last time I actually got it to sort of work (buggy), it wasn't that great. Recently I did try (in GIMP 2.6x) a few months back but it didn't work at all, but I do have to admit, I didn't really try hard enough to figure out why. :)

Hmm, okay, thanks! There are a couple million photoshop actions out there that I was wondering if I could find a quick solution to use but I guess not. Thanks anyways! :)

I was able to compile Gimp# for Fedora and it works pretty well.Only raindrops doesn't seem to work correctly. The dialogue opens but shuts immediately after.
However i had to use the version Gimp-Sharp-17 as version 18 wouldn't work at all, except for Picture Package.
I have not tested the actions filter yet.I will do that and post back. This version is supposed to run ATN files much better than previous versions.
To compile on Linux you will need Mono and it's dependencies.I grabbed most of those here.(Fedora 17)

More information can be found here - GIT

Okay i was able to get a few action files to play but you will have to test them all.
They need to be placed in the SCRIPTS folder.Load one and run the filter. If it crashes remove the ATN file as it's not compatible.
The download website has 10 action filters that seem to all work ok.You can dl those in a zip file at the site.

Below is the color sketch atn file running.

Not a problem.I am happy to help.I have ran this successfully in Windows XP 32 bit, but there is something you need to do before install of Gimp Sharp.
If you are using Windows Gimp Sharp will only install if the binary in the bin folder is renamed to gimp-2.4.exe
Then just rename it back to gimp-2.8.exe or whatever your version was after install of Gimp Sharp.
If you have any setup issues just holler at me. :)

Use already written action is no so much useful is much more useful be able to record action

I was just looking to gimpscripter that is not a macrorecoder but yet seems able to ..easily assemble actions
It is a pain to install in my gimp but because some tweaks , normally if you have python it is easy to install

I am kind of wondering how this works for you.If all the filters run i may try and compile version 14 for Linux. When i used version 14 in windows last year all the filters worked.
It was just updated in 2012 to version 18 but i can't get anything but picture package to work in that version for Fedora 17.
I even tried to compile it last year for windows (version 17).
It was like trying to pull teeth. :lol I never did get it figured out.The dependencies were almost impossible to locate.

The plugin is called PSPI.

You beat me to it. I wish they would fix it so it would work with 2.8
