No matter what I do in the dialog to animate the MathMap sphere, it only spits out as many layers as I specify and the layers don't change. They are all the same.

This is the page I get when I click the help button in MathMap: http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/schani ... anual.html

This is the part they have in there about animation.
For the purpose of animations two additional variable are set:

t (nil:1)
The time which is 0 <= t < 1. If animation is disabled, the value of t can be chosen in the Settings tab. If you want to make animations loop, set the 'Periodic' check-box in the Settings tab and make sure that the images at t == 0 and t == 1 are the same.
frame (nil:1)
The number of the current frame, beginning with 0 for the first frame.

If you have MathMap installed, you can access the Sphere with Reflection in
Filters > Generic > MathMap > Map > Sphere with Reflection

Here is a screen shot of my settings. I've changed the parameter t settings. I don't know what they mean about x & y edge behavior.

to change the layers you should use also the other options in the "User Values" tab :
There you may set a initial position and a final position (for the 3 axis).

Obviously if the initial and final position coincide all layers will be identical...

there is no a preview for the "final " position, only the slider for initial position have a effect on the previews

If I go in and change the values of x, y, & z, it uses those settings for the final sphere and still is not animated.

I think there needs to be two sets of values for x & y. A beginning set and and ending set so that those values can be used.

In User Values setting Add_rotate Y from 0 to 360 rotates image horizontally from left to right, 0 to negative value rotates it from right to left. Add rotate X - rotates the image vertically and so on.

This one is set to 360 in Add_rotate Y

Sorry for the sloppiness, I was in a hurry

under the animation>sphere is a animated sphere option

1/ create a 400x400 image
2/using f/g to b/g gradient blend

Image

3/open mathmap>animation>animated sphere, using user values tab adjust, then do your settings tab

Image

Now you should have your animation

Mine looks very different from that. I don't have half the settings you do, Graechan. I have 2 tabs to your 5.

Here's Windows binaries (not sure if it's 32 or 64-bit) + expressions
Sorry, my uploaded file contained 4 duplicated expressions. Fixed now in mathmap

O the link for the extra expression was in a sticky viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4558,
there are several newer not in the DA pack

About Animated Sphere were 2 versions and i am not sure of which you got.

the difference is in the setting range:
version 1 : allow for Rotation(xyz) values from 0 to 360, and works as expected
Version 2 : allow for Rotation(xyz) values from -360 to 360 works as version 1 only if avoiding all negative values
Negative values are used for a special effect to make the sphere progressively appear or vanish .(while still rotating)

Basically version 2 has a additional effect that can be cool, but delusive is unplanned (will erase part or even all the sphere)

My math map version is 1.3.5. It has to be compiled for Linux.

Graechan, I don't have Animated Sphere in Filters / Animation, all I have is that spinning globe which I don't like very much.

O the link i gave you is for the expression not the binary , so it is the same for linux.

the filter you want use is not included in the Linux version,(not even in the Win version except mine) to fix you must replace or integrate the Expression folder (in home/.gimp) with that i posted in that PINNED TOPIC

Reinstalling will not help ,only add the filters will work

also the zip was posted here will fix, if you extract from that the Expression folder inside that again is the same for all OS

OK, I downloaded the zipped file. It contains folders that have the same names as the folders in my mathmap. Do I overwrite the folders with the new ones?
